Title: Bags and BMW 3 Series boot
Post by: thecord on August 02, 2011, 04:05:48 PM
Strange request maybe but does anyone have any experience with fitting modern massive cricket bags in the boot of the current BMW 3 Series saloon?!?
I have a GM Duplex Ltd Edtn Wheelie bag and the 3 Series may well be my next company car but if the boot is tiny it will have to be crossed off my list!

Don't chose a car based on cricket bag transporting! Buy a car and then downsize bags if need be

I had to change from an aero wheelie to a small Newbery bag when I changed from a Touareg to a BMW 1 Series coupe. I was gutted as loved the big Aero but you can't base your car choice on the size of a cricket bag!

Had 4 kit bags in the boot of the Audi though plus 5 lads when we travelled back from Winscombe the other weekend so plenty of room there!

Sadly I won't be able to pimp a company car, no offence meant on the estate Tom, had an awful one about 6 years ago and my mother had them for years which has put me right off!

Looks like that bag is bigger than mine so I should be ok as long as I can develop the nack you speak of! Might pop in at the dealers with my bag and see if they will let me have a go

Yea ideally I'd go for an a4 partly because of the boot but my company are being funny about what I can have so the BMW may have to be the option.
The sides of the boot are very annoying, chop those bits out an I think all would be fine!

Just as an update I popped in to the local BMW dealer last night and had a go at sticking my bag in the boot of a 3series and was surprised to find that at the right angle it fits in fine.

Not sure yet mate, did over 200 miles in it during the day and it was fine. Then went the 1 mile up the road to the supermarket, 10 minutes later the whole place was evacuated and my car had 15foot flames coming from the bonnet and two fire engines next to it!!! Just glad that nobody got hurt really.
Fire brigade were unable to determine the cause of the fire but they suggested an electrical fault.

Before anyone asks no cricket kit was in it!  :D
Have some difficult explaining to do to a teamwear supplier whose samples were in the car though  :(

True, will wait to hear what the verdict is on the cause first and start the search for a new car again!

Title: Re: Bags and BMW 3 Series boot
Post by: thecord on February 09, 2012, 12:27:20 AM
Yea I know it was probably just bad luck with the BMW but seeing your car like that just minutes after you left it is pretty off putting! Think the A4 will probably be favourite. Bet I end up with some class A one litre tin can which can't fit my kit in the meantime tho  :(

Haha I only have a tiny imasculating Clio mate and I get plenty of kit and a few embarassed team mates in that on weekend   :D
Title: Re: Bags and BMW 3 Series boot
Post by: thecord on February 09, 2012, 12:34:56 AM
I'd be delighted if I got something as good as a Clio whilst I wait for a new car! Worst I had was a 1litre Fiat Panda with no aircon during the summer. Got so hot I had to take towels with me when I went to work as I sweated so much and fitting cricket kit in was just not an option!

gutted for you mate!

hope my bmw doesnt catch fire haha

the boot in an e36 3 series is (No Swearing Please)! can only really get one bag in it because of the way its shaped over the rear arches :(

e30 was much better.

the a4 boots are much better i do miss the a4 estate for space reasons! but it was bit slow.
RS4 one day i think :)

glad you was ok mate!
