Whats involved during the level one course?? start mine next week so thought id try and get an idea.
-
simply a couple of day training sessions, then the asessment.
you will simply learn how to coach and what to coach. you will learn how to coach basic techniques and lead a small group successfully. you have to do a first aid course and a protecting children course aswell.
its all quite basic and you have to be majorly bad to fail!!
-
are you talking about UKCC assistant or UKCC level one (old ECB level two) ??
my friend failed his assistants course on technical demonstration :P
-
i didnt think u cud fail?!!?! they want you to pass coz they want more coaches so they help you as much as possible
-
How do I find out about taking this course?
-
I know.....
hes only 16 but his technique is....questionable
Marcus
You have to get on to your county couaching board they'll point you in the right direction ;D
-
Ah... well i'm 15, would you say too young to take the course?
I'd like to pursue coaching as a potential career, and already coach the lower years at my school.
-
15 is just about ok, they prefer you to be 16+ but i think you should be alright
just go on the ecb website and i'm sure there will be links to where you need to find out all the info.
you can fail, you just have to unimaginally bad at either technique or interacting with people.
-
there is something called sports leaders, which is for juniors who want to go into coaching but there is cricket version you can do

Do you mean JSLA (Junior Sports Leader Award) if so you can usually do that through your school.
-
I think he means the ecb one leo, Young leaders award or something like that

correct!
-
The ECB do not do coaching qualifications
It's The United Kingdom Coaching Course now ;D
UKCC level one is a good club coach
UKCC assistant is the 16+ and JSLA is done throguh school
-
its not the 'united kingdom cricket course' the course is run through sports coach uk ;D
Level one is not a 'good club coach' it is an assitant coach award
Level two is a coach
level three is a head coach
there is a course to be a 'club coach' which you can do once you have done level two + 6 cricket development workshops ;D
-
Old ECB level one is now UKCC assistant coach....;D
-
leo this shows where the young leaders award is in regard to level one/ two etc. its a different one to the one your thinking of

-
the above proves what i was saying....
sorry if i confused you sultanofswing...;D
cheers
-
how does that prove what you were saying?
a quote from the ECB CA website:
The ECB - under the direction of its Cricket Department - runs a National Coaching Scheme, which is designed to equip coaches with the necessary skills to deliver high quality coaching programmes at all levels of the game.
Up to and including Level 3 of this scheme is managed by Tim Lumb from the ECB Community Coach Education Office at Edgbaston. Level 4 and above is managed by Gordon Lord, ECB's Head of Elite Coach Development.
This shows that that cricket coaches are administered by the ECB although they have to meet certain standards set by Sports Coach UK.
The old ecb level 1 is not the new assistant coach award it is more equivalent to the ecb level 2 and can be converted into such with attendance at a conversion course
There is also above shown a 'ECB young leader award'
-
Get you.....
-
Just proving a point!
-
ok fair enough i suppose i would do the same ;D
-
I've already done the JSLA and a different RFU qualification.
I'll speak to my club to see if they can find anything out about these coaching courses for me. :D.
-
JSLA- I'm doing mine atm!
-
Where/how old do you have to be to do the JSLA??
Ive done the UKCC1 but JSLA would back it up i presume??
-
I did the JSLA through my school. I was 14 when I did it.

Ditto.
-
i might get on to someone tomorrow then, they'll probably say that i'm not allowed cause cricket standard in our school is rubbish.
We've got about 8 county players between 5 years groups

we've got none between ours
-
haha well we smash like every state/secondary school but when i comes to public schools were always close but not close enough...
-
i didnt think u cud fail?!!?! they want you to pass coz they want more coaches so they help you as much as possible
you can fail quite easily if ur health and safety awareness is bad during the assessment.
-
haha, my school has never played a cricket game against another school.
But now I'm coach of the year 7's and 8's we are going to be getting some :D.
Also i'm the only county/regional player at my school.
