I cant decide between these lot
Im after a big (in size not weight, Ideally 2,10-2,12) monsterous bat and have taken a fancy to a harrow size with a longer handle, so any advice and experiences from people who have or had any of these I would be grateful.
-
I have a Joker which is a stonking quality bat. I had two Lekkas as well - still have 1 and they were both stonkers too! There was VERY little difference in quality with the Joker just shading it by a nose!
So value for money the Lekka and quality Joker!
H4L I 'only' have an excel which is a stunner. So I can't really comment on the power of the Monster H4L, although I suspect it may be somewhat excellent as well!
I'm sure any of the 3 bats would put an enormous smill on your face!! :D

If you look in the bat reviews section Tim2000s has done a review of loads of this type of bat - they are worth reading - he liked the bulldog bat and the Joker, from memory.
-
Picked up my mates new joker yesterday. It was a 2lb8oz with a massive profile and feather light pick up. Tapped it up with a ball and it was quite nice
-
We have some very nice bulldog spirit20's in our sale. £180
Have some in your weight as well.
Pm if interested.
Thanks.

Thanks buzz. Yes, tried all the bats you are talking about. All have huge middles ( that's I have used) and can be very destructive in the hands of the right batsman. I would mention that the h4l is a standard sized bat though.
-
i know they are all very good bats and i probably would be happy with which ever i get but i really cant decide and have since also looked at the bulldogs and redbacks. so out of interest if you could only have ONE bat from the following which would you choose ?
Black Cat Joker
H4L 666 Monster
Lekka RDX Big Hitter
Bulldog SpiriT20
Redback Paradox

Choose the one with the stickers you most like, all these guys can make you a bat that will be great and to your specifications.
-
First you've gotta ask yourself if you want a standard sized bat or the shorter blade longer handle bat? THat should initially narrow your search.
-
Then give yourself a budget...
-
As I've said in the link buzz posted, I went with the bulldog spirit20. If you want a full size blade I'd choose the h4l, but only because I have one and it is excellent.
-
been trying to get some info from a few of the companies to help me choose but it is like trying to get blood out of a stone

What do you want to know? I've used all the bats you've mentioned in the title, so can give you a view on all of them.
There is no difference (realistically) between the RDX, Jester and Joker. They are both more or less the same size (roughly harrow blade with extra long handle) and have loads of wood so an exaggerated hitting area that the ball flies off. They both result in the bowler bowling short at you when they realise that you have a non-standard blade, but I didn't find that an issue. It's the leave or hit mentality.
The H4L 666 Monster is a full size blade and Matt makes some great bats. This is one of them. It functions as I would expect a bat to. For the same weight as the harrow bladed bats, there is less wood behind the middle, but that's what you'd expect with a standard blade length and width. The ball flies off these bats as well, but the edges and toe aren't as "powerful" as there is less wood there due to the extra width and length.
The SpiriT20 is a halfway house between the two with a shorter blade but standard width. It also has a lot of wood behind the middle, is very forgiving and I have comfortably hit a couple of massive sixes with it.
Realistically, your question appears to be "T20 style bat or standard style bat?" The answer would be what type of cricket do you play most, what sort of batsman are you and what type of shots do you play the most, then I would be basing it on that.
Or buy the halfway house, which is the Bulldog SpiriT20 if you really can't decide. You won't be disappointed whichever way you go.

All that is missing from this is the blind date music and some cheesy jokes - so will it be contestant number one, two or three, the choice is yours... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a96myQp-vk
