I have a charlie french bat that currently weighs just shy of 2lbs 14oz and have used this for the past 3 seasons or so. Typically i've been a late order slogger so have always used a heavy bat, but I recently bought a much lighter bat (2lbs 8oz) and have found it has made a big difference to my game.
My old bat has a cracking middle so im looking at having the weight reduced to around 2lbs 9oz but im looking for some advise on whether it would be worth doing this or just get a new bat as reducing the weight would have a big impact on the bat performance?

Can anyone recommend a batmaker that would do it for less than £20? I'm tempted to take it to Charlie french, but I think it will end up close to £40 which is making a new bat more appealing.

you will really struggle to take that much weight off that bat, in my view. if you have a new bat already I would mount this and keep it for its happy memories.
if you want a new bat anyway, it is a serious buyers market on the forum at the moment, so grab yourself a bargain!

Thanks, I did buy my latest bat off these forums but the previous owner had it repaired after the shoulder split - and i'm concerned that it could break at any moment.
The main reason i was considering weight reduction is that there is no concaving on the bat, and I thought i could lose quite a bit by concaving.
in hindsight though, I think a new bat is the way to go.
