Title: SG Cricket VS 319 Ultimate, SH
Post by: tim2000s on September 04, 2011, 06:09:32 PM
As mentioned in another thread, I took a punt and decided to acquire one of these for the princely sum of £100 + £12 postage from Online Stockist with knocking in and oiling, and it also came with two facing sheets.

The pictures are below. The bat weighs in at 2lb 9oz and is a Short Handle. It's a massive piece of willow, and this is exaggerated by the completely flat face, something that you don't really see in UK bats. It picks up exceedingly well and has a remarkably low middle given the profile. The initial mallet test is pretty good. It's not on a par with the Instinct or Laver that I own as they have larger middles but for such a low price, it is easily as good as many of the larger brands more expensive bats. The Ultimate is the top quality willow that SG sell in their standard bats.

It will be an interesting one to get in the nets and test. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy.

Nice looking bat for £100.

The spine reminds me of 2010 Adidas Pellera.

Looking at it in this picture I have to agree.

I'm tempted to get one of those SG RSD sticks from OS, and this is encouraging!

To be fair, I often see people after unbranded batting gloves and they have them here...

How long did it take to get you once you'd ordered it?

Did you have to pay any import duties or anything tim?

Delivery time was two weeks. I'd asked for knocking in (and it does seem as though that has been done) so that's not unreasonable in my book.

Pretty standard. Not overly thick and mostly round. Haven't had a chance to use it properly yet so I can't vouch for vibration or anything like that.

nice move - pick up bats on ebay cheaply and flog to Ausies who have price inflation on bats - claim to be in Aus - but actually the bat is being sent from the UK... well there is a market for it.

won't it get held up in customs coming in? The slow delivery and postage labels would be a give away. Nothing I get from outside the UK looks close to a normal royal mail delivery sticker.

I have a brother in Aus, could get him to stick my bats on and do postage to Aus. Wonder what my £70 used Newbery would go for over there?

I've noticed that customs isn't as strict over here as it is over there.

I was thinking the same thing, send it to a Relative in Australia, then have them send it on. Could probably get away with saying that it 'must have been held up', and the buyer would be none the wiser

my brother was importing motorised golf trolleys from the UK, which originally gave me the idea as he might have some space in the container for a few extras.

tbh, if I was posting from the UK I would say as it's not fair on the customer.

I would do the same, let them know as it is the right thing to do, and they can plan to be home for when it arrives so it doesn't get nicked. Also, when you're waiting for your gear it is a painful wait untill you have the gear in your hands, and nothing would be worse than expecting it in 2 or 3 days, only for it to arrive 2 or 3 weeks later.

I have been wondering for months who this guy is.

This guy is making an absolute MOLTZA on Gunn and Moore bats. He stickers up other bats with GM stickers (although he does usually say its not a GM, but a first class cricketers bat). I couldnt understand it as in Australia, GM stickers are all bar impossible to get.

Every posting is the same and how "he sourced it from a first class cricketer".

Can I ask if you are implying anything? As in, how would he get it?

I have reasonable contacts in Australia, well as good as you can probably get (I.E - I know the 'GM' guy), and while we arent best mates, he assures me 100% there is no chance, that I, or anyone else can get them here.

Edward Lowy (MD of Unicorn, GM Parent Company) has stated on the forum that you can't get stickers from GM outside of sending a GM bat back for a refurb, when it will come back with GM stickers on it.

Gordon Nalan is a known seller on Ebay for GM bats amongst others. Recently I remember a massive bunch of stickers being sold seperately and all were claimed to be genuine from GCC. Does he sticker up blanks? When you sell stickers then your credibility goes down a few notches.

These look tempting. Does anyone know it is possible to get SS bats with oval handles? The one I had was round.
