Title: England V West Indies
Post by: danspink on February 04, 2009, 09:50:28 PM
Shakey start from the top order.

But KP and freddie have played sensibly.

And sorry but why the hell did bell get picked over shah? Once agen another start dintnt push on.

And also noticed that cook is using a Xiphos.

Disappointed that the start of Strauss' reign as captain sees England pick the same old predictable team. would like to have seen at least a mini shake-up.

Bell and Panesar out, KP at 3, Shah at 4 and Swann in.

Looks like a poor performance on what has been reported as a road of a pitch.

to be fair not exactly a postive days cricket but some good bowling on a helpful wicket from benn and gayle. Some turn on first day, even for Gayle! Silly shot for pietersen on 97, had a chance to make a massive score!

good day for the Wi

England came back well but i d have to say theyre overrated and many commentators analysts and pundits share this view.

Brilliant innings from KP played sensibly and batted out of character for a passage which showed his capabilities as I cricketer.

Sulieman Benn bowled well , better than his figures showed had KP Freddie and Ramdin in trouble.

he was using Gray Nicolls shoes as well

seems like GN are making their players use their goods only

It doesn't really matter that Pietersen was out for 97, he batted brilliantly... The shot that he played was fine, as he says its how he plays... He wouldn't have got 97 in the first place if he wasn't being himself. And 100 is just a number like any other, big deal

Definately Shah in, Prior once again looks his worth, best batsman being a keeper, even though Foster is England's best wicketkeeper

I will be doing exactly the same thing mate! I thought Flintoff bowled extremely well yesterday. At last my plea has been answered  for him to open the bowling...

Flintoff was the only hope to go down respectfully...... He was the only guy who coul dhave helped ENG get  some lead.... 10-15 runs....

Don't blame Freddie blame the other useless batsmen above him.
There were some positives to take out of the game, Broad's first 5 for, Flintoff's fitness and form and KP's form in the 1st innings. Prior had a good knock as well but unfortunately England just didn't perform in the 2nd innings.

flintoff just slogged as he obviously knew there was no way out of the mess, so he may aswell go with a bang.  he's not going to bat with a tailender for over a day to save the match.
dreadful batting peformance, shah in, bell out, swann in, panesar out.  and if cook doesn't buck his ideas up get rid of him too.

The collapse really started when Bell got out last ball before lunch, stupid shot. Let's please sort out the coaching situation, I know it's down to the players, but it can't help things

this team needs a shake up - they can't go on as they are - they need new faces and quick!
Title: Re: England V West Indies

I knew this would happen, one loss and everone on here would start moaning! All we need is a few replacements made, Shah in for collingwood, and swann in for monty. We dont need the whole team changed!

Greg - i wasn't saying 11 new players

I wonder what the squad will be like for the summer. This squad had already been announced before the whole Moores/Pieterson debacle, so it's not really Strauss' team yet.

Wouldn't bet on the ECB giving the right man the job, why wasn't Tom Moody even spoken to before appointing Moores? He was the man for the job, now he's happy in Australia and wants to raise his kids there so there's not a prayer of getting him. I think Graeme Ford is the man for the job.

I couldn't agree more... I do not understand why Shah and Bopara are overlooked... Why would u have collingwood instead of shah?

Shah in for colly let bell drop down to 5 (he seems much more comfortable there)

Swanny in for Monty (monty lacks variation and killer instinct)(he should really take a leaf out of Sulie Benns book)

ANderson must play next game but I wont be surprised if Harmison is favoured for the Oval test

2 spinners playing at queens park is a thought but time will tell
