Title: Impressive clean up and toe repair
Post by: Buzz on September 16, 2011, 10:46:33 AM
Undertaken by anpother forum member on my behalf, my little SAF Genus was refurbished and repaired by a respected member of the forum at a very reasonable cost.

Remember the bat has scored 1300 plus runs in two seasons of opening the batting in league cricket (with the occaisional village game thrown in)
I doff my panama hat (well MCC Sunhat) to the man involved :)

I thought I had, but can't find them on photobucket. Needless to say the bat looked a little "Tired and Emotional"

And 100 not out - one bat all season? No one bat for 2 seasons!!

Can I make it clear, that this is not my work on the clean up, but that of someone else!!! :)

yes, there is/was a 2 inch crack up from the toe where I tried to smash a yorker first game of the season. The bat managed to last the whole season (which I was surprised by). This is why I ordered a new bat or two (in the end 3!) to replace it as I didn't think it would last...
Iritatingly the light on the picture is covering up the repair job on the front of the bat. It just looks like there is a hair trapped under the scuff sheet now!

Thanks SS - as for how well it has lasted - I think it has been really well knocked in (by Romida in Leatherhead) and faced a lot of bowling machine balls, rather than cheap balls in the nets.

Do Romida do it with a machine or by hand?
I hate knocking in bats and prefer to buy used bats.

Mainly with a machine I think and then finished by hand
