Has anyone got pics of any decent looking bats or any other equipment? I'm eager to see what the big companies have got to offer.
-
I also have a question re: the trade show.
What was the Mongoose ToRQ like as they seem to think that it is the best bat ever, nothing beats it, you should not buy any other bat.
-

I'm sure that GM will tell you that about the Epic, Halo or 1885, or GN about the Legend.
-
Am really looking forward to seeing one. I'm a big mongoose fan and really keen on them bringing out a traditionally shaped bat. For my next bat i will definitely be buying one if it comes in a 2lb7.

It's called Marketing. Everyone comes out year on year with the best bat ever.
-
The newbery tour gear looks like woodstock, i know that sounds ridiculous
-
Ok maybe I didn't get my point across. I can see what you're all saying, but to say it has the biggest sweet spot in cricket is a big claim.
-
Tom, have Newbery dropped Krakatoa from there range?
-
a few zummerzet boys were there, including Marcus trescothic. they must be sick of the place !
-
Jeez - that M&H Master looks like a railway sleeper. One for the tail end sloggers...
-
Millichamp and hall master, 2lb14, don't know how anyone could bat properly with that. I struggle with a 2lb10
-
Tom, have Newbery dropped Krakatoa from there range?
they have dropped Uzi range apart from bat
-
Salix Strike looks amazing, I wonder what weight is it.
-
Love the Newbery Tour and M&H Master shapes
-
Wow. Just saw the Salix gloves
-
I think Salix Strike is that expensive bat going by number of grains it has
We need to get rich I reckon
-
Wow. Just saw the Salix gloves
SAme reaction I wonder what palm Urban gloves have :S
-
The Newb Tour stuff looks amazing! Just take my money TK, I don't want it! :O
-
I thought that you might be interesting in this little account of the Lords show this morning...
I have approached this from a softs perspective - because the bats are basically bits of wood, with shiny stickers on, some will be good, some wont...Obviously there were lots of lovely bats there. Most appeared to be Indian made.
Firstly a lot is made of the show and it really isn't set up for a punter like me! From a layman’s perspective, I was an interested observer and one for the wholesalers to avoid.
My main observations were that most brands were playing very safe, lots of rebadged ss and sg stuff in the softs world, although I did like the chase softs - probably just about my favourite, plus the sf kit generally looked good. As did the oblivion pads - I was not a fan of the GN gloves.
I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the gloves generally.
the stands were (from memory)
Chase, M&H, asics, Trion:z, Sunwise, Mongoose, CA, Boom Boom, Dukes, Willostix, PiriPiri, Stuart Surridge, Ayrtek, Masuri, Bradbury, GN, SF, Aero/Nike, Newbery, County and Salix.
There may have been more, but not that I can remember. The best stands were Chase, Salix, Newb, M&H, Mongoose and Willowstix. If I was going to buy something - It would have been the Salix stuff probably - but it is expensive – so (as a tight git) I would probably look for bargains elsewhere if I was in the market. Realistically I will stick with what I have next season as it is all great.
Actually if I was in the market it may be that Chase is where I would go for my next softs - which isn't something I thought I would say, but they looked pretty good (to my taste) and also had a really nice duffle bag. I think they have really upped their game.
Biggest winners?
Newbery stuff, I liked their colours, Chase - I really liked their softs and the sf stuff which is as “ronseal” - as it comes but decent quality, I think you will see a lot of that next season, especially because of their prices and how well they did last year with retailers.
Biggest comedy launch (other than Ayrtek) - the new purple stickered M&H bat called the master. They will sell loads of this massive railway sleeper.
The chase bats looked good although one of their bats takes concaving to a new extreme and was horrid.
Oh and I love the retro ss turbo and jumbo... probably a generation thing.
Biggest fail: Aero and Nike - aero have brought out a "vintage range" - rebranded SG stuff I think - so they have abandoned their new ideas approach. Their bats had a horrid ridge running down the bottom of the handle which means you can't hold the bat properly but were ok shapes.
Oh and I hate the orange Nike shoes.
The strippers will be their one saving grace
Finally the Ayrtek lids. I was kindly invited by Tom to the show and his presentation with Lord Maclaurin - which was why I was there in the first place. Firstly I hope the team do really well with their new range of lids, I think they have the price points right and I got to try their product for the first time - I actually liked them a lot more than I expected to. Then after the presentation, I knew it was time to leave when I was accused of looking like someone who can play when I tried the new carbon lid on! They did look pretty good.
thanks again to tomtek...
-
Btw checking Buzz's pm again. Just to clarify, no GM? :(
-
no...they do the twickers show.
-
Thanks Buzz. I'm saddened :(
-
Chase was the highlight of the show. Willostix also have a really nice 50's cigarette card style sticker on one of their bats.
Slazenger haven't done much new. Neither have Bradbury.
-
Not overly impressed with how the Torq looks. Think I'd need to have a plink with a mallet to work out whether the middle lived up to its billing!
As an aside, looks as though Kook have dropped the CCX range this year?
-
Anyone knows what type of palm Salix Urban gloves have?
Tom, no pictures for GM mate?
Also is this Newbery Tour the ''heavy weight bat''?
-

Recoil replaces CCX

GM and Willostix have asked that I don't post any photos until their launch. Sorry guys.
Not sure about palms. In a rush now, but will check catalogues etc later
-
And guys, please spread the word on Cricket Insight. Spent a fair bit of time and money today so please Tweet it, FB it etc so all can see the new ranges!
-
What's a QR code? I had those on my bottle of ciders the other night!
-
Scan it on your smartphone, takes you through to Salix knocking in info etc.
-
Loving the GM shapes.
-
where can i see pics of all the new gear that was seen today?
-
Ive put all but GN on here. http://www.cricketinsight.co.uk/

great pictures Tom, still love the MH Distinction out of all the bats .......... think mine will last next season and then its time for a new one!
-
not much mention of the bradbury bats which had very flat faces, like the sg bats (coincidence?) they looked pretty clean, if the model I picked up had too much concaving.
-
Good work Tomboy
I really like the look of the chase gloves and the chase t20 bat... Salix gear looks top drawer as usual and I really like the shape of the Salix prime bat..
Cenko's grains look pretty special...
Did anyone see a bat today that they think they will actually buy?
-
the mnh master looks just like that one i had
-

I havent had a chance to pop down and see the new willostix gear yet, andy from there told me about it a while back, sounded nice when i heard about it.
-
anyone got any pictures of the regular chase bats profile?
-
I think I took 300+ photos today so will post some over the next few days chaps!
Myself and Tom were scooting around like Papparazzi!!
-
Snap happy u boys.....u were in ur element!!!
Some very nice bats being unveiled today i must admit ;)
-
And some snaps of your nice new helmets too ;)
-
anyone got any pictures of the regular chase bats profile?
no pics, but they had 3 profiles, one with no concaving for the old school, one with moderate concaving, just for me ;) and a comedy thing with phat edges, huge concaving and a pencil thin tall spine. Something for all...
-
Anything on new spikes?
-
Think I spy some white Newbery keeping gloves!!
-
me and mr hosk perused the Asics stand and they have 3 new models coming out...new advances are very light weight!!!
-
Love the new chase bats. They must have spent a fair bit of time designing stickers etc. Not a massive fan of the new Salix, Piri Piri bit too childish for me but suppose the young kids would love it.
Thanks Tom for the pictures !
-

Did they all have low middles as well or were they different on each model?
-
Is there just one colour for the new Gel Advance?
-
Oooh! I may have had an accident if I was there!
Anyone got any ideas as to when this stuff is released or when we can get an idea on prices?
I've had a bit of a 'moist moment' over the Newbery Tour softs and bag.
-
the tour bags huge, it was in the chalet a couple of weeks ago.
-
Slazengers un-inspiring designs continue ..
-
Love the Chase stickers and the purple MH, I'm a sucker for a nice sticker!

We can do The Chalet, Dummer, a pub and still be back home in time for a lovely tea! That's what overdrafts are for!
-
So is the show invite only or can any Tom, dick or Harry go along?
-
When, when, when......
You're the one with the social life - I'm old and fat remember! Check your diary, check with Buzz's bank manager and we'll go from there.

No prizes for guessing which vowels in that sentence were swapped in/out/around when speed reading that lol.

It may have been me or it may of been Tom? Or there were a few people taking pics, including a fella with a rather fancy camera with huge lenses!! What did he look like?
-

sorry I got done by predictive typing. dummer down car park is not a place for the faint hearted... :o
-
Those Newbery softs are immense and the keeping gloves or what can be seen of them look top drawer too.
Just when you try to wind down and forget about cricket for a day or two, this lot hits the market.
Roll on Cricket season ???
-

i know Tom and the only other person with professional camera was a tall guy who tried to sell me M&H while taking photos of M&H bats
-
wow..that Salix strike bat!! tried counting the number of grains and just gave up.
Chase stuff look really nice too!

Lovely bit of willow but I'm not too sure about the middle position!
-
I think the Strike had around 20 grains!
-
One of the Salix guys, Ben, is on this forum and was at the show. Will drop him a PM to see if he can get anymore snaps/info on the Strike.
-
Dont know why but i am drawn to the praestantia the first bat in the first pic.
even though it has a blemish, i think its a work of art.
-

agree not my choice of profile either. but if i had money to burn I'd buy it just to stare at it :D

Do you mean "To find out how much it costs so that I can put it on the wall and stare at it"?
-
Are Bradbury even still trading? Love the stuff but no one seems to sell it?
-
Bradbury is distributed now by Jon Hardy Ltd - same guys who run Masuri.
-
Cheers Tom, you rate the new gear then?
-
Just looking at the pics on the cricket insight blog. Whilst I'm not after a new bat some of the softs look good. The SS and slazenger gloves look very nice, especially what seems like a new version of the SS gladiator gloves. The newbery tour softs are probably the best looking in my opinion, though as per the cricket insight forum comments they do look a lot like the Woodstock gear.

odd that really, given that Woodstock started off looking like they were copying Newbery...think they're just trying to confuse us?
Mind you, as a Newbery man, got to say I like the look of it all. Shame that light blue is going to clash horribly with our clubs colors of red and green!
-

Paul Bradbury was there - chatted to him for quite a while and he's a really good bloke! He is on his way back to Aus by now.
Also Shaun Udal (Shaggy) was pie eating there too - another nice bloke!
Paul was saying that they still had lots of M bats left over (as the S model bats seemed to go down better) - therefore they only have one stock model (profile) of bat for 2012 which is the S type profile from last year. But it will not have a model name as there is only one!!
They still have the different grades (100, 400, players grades) and the bats felt decent with a nice pickup! By the way, Paul did say that he was making all the bats himself and not getting them farmed out anywhere.
The softs look plain too with subtle markings - quite classy looking and comfortable too!
-
Can someone give me an insight into next years Asics shoes please?
-
3 new models of Asics fella.
I will post detailed pictures later. They are nice shoes so took several photos of each model! ;)
-
Feel free to email them over to me and I'll give you a hand uploading them as I need something to do today!
-
I will do but I got in late from the show last night so they are on my camera at home!
I will start to download the photos this evening 8)
-
Ok mate, I look forward to it. Can you remember what colour the Strike Rates are this year?
-
I think they were red. But I can't remember which model was which off the top of my head!!
-
Red will look horrible with my gear, I will have to get a pair of this years
-
there were some green and yellow shoes too.
I have to admit I thought they were a little garish for my taste
-
Green and yellow would be excellent, I saw that the 2010 Australia Stikes Rates were Green and yellow
-
Can someone who was at the show confirm if I'm seeing 2 pairs of Newbs keeping gloves? A white and silve pair by the Cenkos (With such nice grains I could w@nk myself into a coma!) And then a blue and white pair of keeping gloves by the Tour softs? I hope so cos if its true they will be mine! Oh yes, they will be mine :D /waynesworld
-
There was a new model which were white with light green markings on there. Can't remember which model they were but will find out later from the photos! 8)
-
Correct MD2812
-
And I was talking about the new Asics when I said green - not the Newbery keeper gear (wanted to be clear)
I do have photos of both keeper gloves too though! I'm going to be busy over the next few days by the looks of it!
-
Just seen the new GM range of kit including the players range. It all looks fantastic, Shane Watson's bat was an interesting shape and Jonathan Trott's handle shape was unique. The softs look beautiful, especially the LE and 808. I can imagine the new range of bats will fly off the shelves, they look great.
-
where'd you see the gm gear mate?
-
http://www.asics.com.au/footwear/cricket-shoes.aspx
Im guessing they wont differ much from the Aussie versions?
-
Where did you see the new GM gear BeachCricket?
-
I was in a local cricket shop and the GM rep was in there with all next years gear.

this year there is no difference in Australian and UK version
-
So..... does anyone know when this stuff is normally available to us mere mortals, and when prices are released?I am specifically talking about the Newbery gear.
-
I think the Strike had around 20 grains!
Talking to Andrew Kember, he said it won't perform as well as a wide grain bat
-

Pics will be on cricket retailers sites with prices by mid-Oct with supply from November.
-
anyone want a 500 quid players replica bat? Replica in every sense, performance, dimensions, pick-up, balance etc
-
A GM players bat? http://www.cricketinsight.co.uk/2011/09/16/gm-cricket-2012-player-ranges/
-
always one step ahead Thomas...thats what I like to see!!
-

Yes. Seen them today and the Shane Watson and Ross Taylor ones are massive.
-
Did they visit Lukey? What did you think of the 1885?
-
No Lukey does not have a account with GM.
I managed to have a sneek preview at Harrogate today.
The 1885 felt really nice. Not a big bat, but felt amazing
-
does anyone know any insights into the new puma range?
-
Those Salix bats look amazing
-
Actually, the Chase bats look fantastic
-
Just seen the M&H. I think it's time to apply for a new credit card :(
-
for me the chase gear looked really good. Not seen much of the old stuff but this definately looked a step up! had a really good chat with the guys there and they really seemed to want to impress with the new range. Also liked the new kevlar toe guard which they were displaying on one of the models.
THe salix and M&H bats were as you would expect - top notch. had a bit of a chat with ben about the salix ranges but M&H didnt seem too keen when they realised i wasnt a retailer.
-
Newbery Tour. S'all I'm saying.
-
very strange profile to the tour with no spine on the bat! kind of a rolled back to it
-

Just fairly chunky by the looks of it! Looks nice though. I like the blue... God I'm a sucker for blue cricket kit!
-
I want to see the new GM gear!
-
Mr Hosk. Where are these pictures! :(
-
Well - my daughter needed the laptop for her 6 pieces of homework. So I only had an hour or two to start compressing the photos! But half way through so will do the rest this evening.
I do have some nice photos of the Newbery Tour and lots of other bits! So will be worth waiting for! ;)
-
I suppose you're excused ;)
-
I want to see the new GM gear!
Full GM stuff will be on their site tonight.
-
Well - my daughter needed the laptop for her 6 pieces of homework.
I dont think she quite realises how important these photos are mr hosk!!! ;)
-
To be fair, it is her laptop as my Sony won't recharge!!
So am sending it off so have to use hers. but I'll let her know that homework can damn well wait as the 2012 range of cricket gear is life changingly important! She is obviously lacking in her education if she can't understand this! And as a parent I feel partly responsible for this oversight in her learning! :(
-
She has all year to do her homework, we need to see this kit immediately, is she aware that the season starts in 7 months time!! *panics*
-
The kids thesedays don't know the importance of equipment ;-)
-
I also blame the teachers and the subjects they teach! I've always thought they needed a 'Cricket and associated gear' subject added to our schools!! 8)
-

-
At work currently so photos will be posted later!

The wait is agonising, quick quick please!! >:( >:(
Are you blind?
