Title: 2010/11 GM Apex

This is my son's GM Apex Original LE he bought at the beginning of last season.... Such a nice bat I thought I would put some pics up (iPhone pics so not great quality)

Weight = 2lb 8oz with scuff sheet and 2 grips
14 pretty straight grains... Great looks with performance to back it up
Really impressive bat with a huge middle and great rebound... at $800 aud it better be good...lol.. $200 aud more than the Laver Reserve he bought earlier this year... I will say though that all of the top of the range bats here in Oz are all around the $800 mark

Nice grains and glad the bat goes well.....but 800 bucks? Strewth!!!  >:(

Unfortunately pete here in Oz no matter what brand, the top of the range models all cost about the $800 mark. You guys are spoilt with the choice and cost of bats over there

Makes the redbacks, black cats, safs, etc on this forum look amazing in value!!!

The prices in Australia and New Zealand seem very high to you guys in the UK but it's not like they've changed recently. It all comes down to exchange rates and when there were 2.5 Aussie Dollars to the Pound and 3 NZ Dollars to the Pound the prices were indeed very comparable......bloody exchange rates!

It's only 1.58 AUD to the GBP

The main factor is that you guys in the UK have a much bigger market than we do, hence prices can be lower and the companies can still make a very good profit. Over here is Australia we pay more due to the smaller number of people in the market and it's not only cricket gear we pay more for, we also pay more for movies, games and more (can't think of any more specific ones atm, lol), so it's mainly due to the size of the market.

Langer - it used to be 2.5 AUD to the Pound before the Pound became really weak.  It's now approximately 2 NZD to the Pound whereas 9 years ago or so it was 3.3 - this is the huge factor when comparing Aus/NZ prices to British prices.  Just because exchange rates have changed doesn't mean that companies should have to change their prices in their own countries.  A bat costing 700 NZD now costs 350 Pounds whereas in 2002 the same 700 NZD bat would have cost around 220 Pounds....I'm not sure that makes sense but I know what I'm trying to say!
