Title: ACL Reconstruction
Post by: 123* on October 06, 2011, 07:54:10 PM
Hi fella's from before it sounded like a few of you had one of these? My op's booked in for the 27th of this month, does anyone know if ill be back for the season? I know the experts say ill be out for 9 month for contact sports like football but what about cricket, is 6 month a realistic rehab time?

Cheers!

i wouldnt think so as its not something to rush back from until ur 100% ready......iv snapped both of mine and if you value your long term health and dont fancy a knee replacement down the line i would listen to the 9 month schedule

like the above says, for the matter of 3 months now, could easily save a long period later on down the line!

I'm probably not the best one to ask since I snapped my ACL whilst playing under injection with a ruptured PCL.  But listen to what the guys say - there really is no point in rushing back if you're not up to it.  You might conceiveably be able to play as a batsman only by June but that'll be your lot.

did 9 months worth of physio and once you can do shuttle runs then thats when u know its ready, straight line running isnt the issue its when you twist and turn on it that you need to make sure its ready to rumble.

I had an ACL, Medial ligerment and new knee cap in 2002. it took about 10 months of rehab but I think techinques have changed now and as long as you do exactly as the Docs and physio's say you should be fine mate!

Just a follow up, I'm 9 weeks post op today and feel great, I can run no problem (even though the physio won't let me!) I've started playing a lot of mirror shots with my bat and feel completely fine, do you guy's think I'd be ready to do a few throw downs? Feel a bit isolated from the club at the minute and would love an excuse just to go along to winter nets!
