Title: Guess what I got for £99.99
Post by: Joe on October 25, 2011, 04:10:21 PM
So I go to Owzat to get some keeping gloves, and guess what I come across...

A Laver Private Bin (Harrow) reduced from £179.99 to £99.99! They are the only retailer in the uk (I think) to stock laver.

For that price it would be atrocious not to buy it, and since I use a harrow I now own a Laver & Wood.

8 Pretty Straight Grains, low middle, no concaving, picks up beautifully!

Here are some pics:

If only I was just that bit shorter and could get away with a harrow...

By the way, did you get any keeping gloves?
And did they have any of the new 2012 ranges in yet?

They had 2 Harrows, 3 full size and a Size 6, and I got some Aero keeping gloves (they are excellent)

Owzat is fantastic! Best cricket shop around in my opinion (I've been to Uzi Sports), the bat selection is truly amazing! They have just about every model from every manufacture, and just about every pad/glove from every manufacture.

They have the 2012 GM range in stock, the Epic is the pick of the bunch for me, the 1885 picks up like a dog.

Hmmm the Aero keeping gloves look ugly but I have never seen them in the flesh.
Would love to pay a visit to Owzat but it is just too far when Uzi with a cup of tea and friendly service is but a stone's throw away.

Which ones, normal (green and white) or gel ones (red and black)?

I got the green ones - I'm not a keeper, I just feel a need to own a pair, and these were pretty cheap.

Can't argue at that price ;)

Same, got some puma calibre keeping gloves purely because they were bright!

Does it have a mix of the two types of stickers?

Does it have a mix of the two types of stickers?

I don't think so, the bat has been in there for a long time at £179.99, I see it every time, and I think it's just some older stickers - the red sticker on the bottom at the back does say Private Bin.

Yeah, it was the red one at the bottom and the red edge stickers that made me wonder.

I'm not complaining - it's a lovely bat, no matter what stickers it has.

It does have a mix, this doesnt mean its not a private bin as you can have red or green p.b stickers, you just have a few of each! interesting as to why thats come about!

Just looked at the handle, it only has one spring ???   Does this mean it's a carbocane?

Does this mean I'll get more vibrations, but (in theory) it'll go like a train?

If it was a carbocane you would notice it immediately, a small circular tube thats inserted into the handle.
Cracking buy at the price and even if its a harrow length just add a maaaassive toe guard and you are sorted :D

Just got this email from Andy:

Hi Joe,

Many thanks for the messages.

We stickered the bats up for Owzat in a unique fashion so that they were
something different.  This is why there is a mixture of the green and the
red labels on your new bat.  I can confirm that it is a Private Bin and is
a lovely bat for the price.  We hope it goes well for you.

The fact that there is only one spring does not affect the quality of the
bat at all.  We only use top quality handles and get a range of them from
our suppliers.  Some have one spring, some have two and some have three.
When these bats were made James would have been likely to use some of the
one spring handles in the junior bats.

I hope this answers your queries and we hope that the bat goes well for
you.

Kind Regards,

Andy
