				 Really? As I have oiled a 404 given to me the bleach is not as noticeable after being oiled.

				I have a Flare 505 which is bleached, and although it picks up like a dog it's also a gun of a bat!
I oiled it without realising the bat was bleached and it produced a horrible marbled effect all over the blade. I have since sanded it back and re-oiled and it seems to be a lot better - perhaps the bleaching only affects a thin layer of the wood?

				1/100 of an inch to 1/32 of an inch. If you sand down a bleached bat first it may possibly bring the original unbleached wood out. Then you can oil it.
