My new Gunn and Moore Epic 808. Bought it on Saturday for £157.99. In the shop I was torn between this bat, and a similar weighed original. In the end I chose this particular bat as I couldn't justify spending an extra £120 for a slight difference.
The Bat
I count about 10 perfectly straight grains, I think the only thing hat restricts this piece of timber to an 808 grading is the fact that there s minor discolouration on the toe of a right handed batsmen's outside edge.
Weight: 2.7 1/2
Pick up index: 1, incredibly light pick-up
My initial response to this bat is that has an excellent middle with great responsivness. I currently don't have the edge sizes and the spine height, however I will update the topic at a later date with more information and answer any questions you may have. For now, I thought we would all probably just prefer to see the pictures. :)
Any m ore pictures required, just ask. Enjoy.

Can't wait to hear the edge sizes, what weight was it listed as or did it not have one?
-
Looks good for 808! I hope it serves you well.
Did you put the edge tape or it came like that?
-
Am I the only who has noticed how influenced British bats are by Asain bats? That is such an asian profile! Still looks like a nice stick
-
2.7 1/2 is the listed weight, I put the tape on myself, somehow it came out alright.
-
What shop was it? ???
-
Nice profile, looks big for its weight.
-
What grade is this ment to be??
-
Grade 2
-
Got it from a shop called Sportscraft, here is the link to their website,

Incidentally, has the middle position changed on the Oblivion? Looks much more like Cooks shape than last years model:

Grade 2 but I bet it performs like a grade 1

Nice bat Craig, did they have a Halo or a 1885 808 there. If so how did they compare shape wise? Or did you only look at the Epic
-
I felt pretty bad, there was about 15 of each bat from three ranges: the halo the 1885 and the Epic. So there were around 50 bats on the shop floor and that was just in the 808 909 and original grades. All the Halo's seemed to have big profiles and as a result of that the lightest was 2.9. I also considered the 1885 as I like the traditionalism of the shape and the William Gunn signature at the bottom looked class however the Epic was just right for me.

Yes I what you mean, it does look different to the older version

A choice of 50!! You did well to walk out with one then I wouldn't of been able to make my mind up lol I think out of the 3 I'd've gone with the epic too that shape is perfect.

The results are in...
middle edge size: 32mm
Toe edge size: 21mm
spine height: just short of 53mm
-
nice bat whats its middle like??
-
It's sold now, but the middle was excellent. The wood would have been a much higher grade if it weren't for the discolouration. Excellent bat just wasn't for me. Now I've got a GN Powerbow and have never owned anything like it!

Looks like a redback profile to me, think the paradox....lovely stick mate!
