Title: DF Repair Costs
Post by: lexx on November 11, 2011, 06:48:49 PM
I emailed Duncan Fearnley about refurbishing my DF Retro 5*.I used it in all my 20/20 matches and it performed very well,i averaged 51.But it took one hell of a beating >:( I have cracked the toe and needs a complete refurb,so i emailed DF Today and this is the prices i was quoted

1.Toe Repair £25.00
2.Full Refurb £50.00

Too me that seams quite allot for both jobs? What do people think? Would it be worth sending it too GM or GN Are they cheaper??

Thanks.

£50 for the full refurb seems a bit expensive but £25 for the toe repair seems fair to me......if it takes them a couple of hours to sort then that's only 12.50 an hour....try finding another craftsmen who would work for that!

Yes it seamed a lot of money for a refurb,i was a bit shocked it was that much.I do agree with the toe repair i am under no illusion how much time that would take too fix mate. But do you think 50 for a refurb is a lot????

Yeah, I do! It is too much really.

You should do it yourself. Lots of people on here who can talk you through the toe repair and refurb and I know of a certain forum member with a job lot of sandpaper to shift! Good learning process and very satisfying.... :)

£25 for toe repair about right but £50 for full refurb is a rip off! Where do you live?
Took my salix pod to Hawk and they put insert along length of toe to repair water damage and did full refurb with new pod stickers from salix, which aren't cheap, for £35.

Really not sure although I am certain someone on here does know! H4l offer a good service as does M&H but I don't know if either would resticker either....

Doubt GM would, but a team mate had his Readers done by M&H who stuck some stickers on, must've been samples or spares. They weren't the usual range stickers.

Update on the DF Refurb and repair.I sent out a few emails and had a few quotes and i decided too give Dave Banks at Stac the bat too see what he could do.It took about a week and i picked the bat up yesterday and was very pleased with his work! He fixed the crack in the toe,put a new toe guard on.He put a new full length protective face and edge strips on the bat.And all for £25 notes! I was very happy and as you can see the bat looks great! I would highly recommend him too anyone.

Yes i agree with that statement mate, they are great bats but they wont last long! Dave Banks showed me one of his laminate bats,it was a monster and he said they go like stink but he's had a few bats break.
