Title: Bat Refurbishment Service
Post by: tbarnfield99 on November 17, 2011, 04:19:52 PM
After buying a Paradox LE before the start of last season I though I would send it back off to Gary at Redback to get her back to the way she used to look.

I e-mailed Gary, and after a matter of hours he responded saying that he would refurbish the bat for £25. That price also included return delivery. It cost me a little over £7 to send it recorded so just over £30 all in all.

I have never sent a bat away for it to be refurbished before, as I used to buy a bat just to last a season so I'm a little in the dark to what I will receive.

Anyway, I asked him to completely remove the bat of all stickers and anti-scuff sheets, and for him to put a new grip on.

Here are the pictures moments before she was wrapped up:

I will post the pictures of the refurbished bat when it arrives, along with the conclusion to my review. So far, so good!

I'm a number 3 so I do bat most games.

Looks in good condition already mate

As I've usually bought £100 bats just to last a year I've not looked after them that well, but with this bat I've treated it like my baby! To be fair it comes out better in the pictures than it really is.

I wish...

Expecting delivery either today or tomorrow. DPD tried to deliver the bat last week and I missed it. Rang them up to re-deliver and they just sent the bat back to Gary!

It's been a few weeks now due to Gary's illness and DPD's mistakes. I'm glad I sent it off this early! If this was mid-season I would be tearing my hair out.

Will put a decent review and pictures up when it decides to turn up!

Can you possibly give me Gary's Redback postal address (where you sent your bat)? I have a LE that I would like refurbishing, but don't want to bother Gary with yet another email in his inbox. Was it £25 all in? new stickers, grip, scuff sheet etc? Pay by cheque?

It's arrived and I'm impressed. You could probably get away with selling this as brand new!

£25 for everything including return delivery. I just popped £25 in with the bat when I sent it.

All in good time! Going to try and borrow a camera to take these instead of my usual shocking iPad pictures. Should hopefully get some up Saturday / Sunday.

Yes. It really does look brand new. I won't say much now, but will make sure I do a half decent review over the weekend with some better quality photos.

Right,

Eventually got my hands on a camera and have taken a few snaps to share with you. If you are in two minds about refurbishing a bat then hopefully this will prove a decisive persuasion!

After exchanging a few e-mails with Gary, I sent away my pride and joy to Devon along with £25. I think that £25 including return postage is a very competitive rate, especially when you take into consideration the quality of the finished item.

Unfortunately Gary was ill for the first week and sow as unable to get to work on it, but provided me with an e-mail to let me know about the delay which was nice to receive. The bat was then sent out the following week, but the courier service wasn't exactly fantastic. They attempted a delivery, but wouldn't drop it off without a signature despite the signs in the window, the calling card said they would attempt to re-deliver it the following day, but they never showed up. I then tried to get hold of them about re-delivering it, but by that time they had sent it back to Gary!

Another few agonizing days passed by but eventually it arrived. It was certainly worth the wait. Here are the long overdue photos, hope you enjoy them as much as I do, and if you are considering a refurbishment of your bat then certainly consider Gary at Redback.

No stickers?  ???

No, I prefer more of a blank bat to be honest. It doesn't affect performance not having the stickers as well!

Not that I have noticed. I haven't played with it, only picked it up. Looks like brand new, the pictures really don't do it justice.

Really great shape to that. Love to get my hands on one to copy. Refurb looks a great job. Well worth the 25
