Title: Fusion Limited Edition
Post by: raymond on February 21, 2009, 11:56:22 AM
Ordered it a few weeks back and has just arrived. Service was good, spoke to James for about 40 mins on the phone and this assured me i wouldnt be let down, i certainly am not. Was very interesting talking to him and all emails were replied to within a couple of days.

Asked for 2.8 and its bang on that was worried it may have come in heavier, just asked for the normal fusion profile. Edges are about 27mm and spine is rougly 62mm, has loads of concaving which looks lush i hope i hit the middle a lot as it doesnt look like it'll go very far if i dont. Is very well balanced and feels really nice.

As for the ping it flies off the mallet, never seen a bat ping as much before. It does sound quite tinny, as though it needs to be knocked in. But i have heard people say that fusions only need some throw downs, any advice please?

I feel that the bat is probably no better than superbests from previous years, but that option wasnt available and i was in no doubt that this would perfrom better than the red. I asked for 10-12 grains and theres 11 ish so cant complain, not perfectly straight but i couldnt really care less as long as it plays well.

Also got the new gloves, they are soft and supple. Look to have good protection aswell.

How much was that?
Nice, but not worth £275.

worth the price tag?

Looks nice and the stickers are growing on me. Can't say I'd ever pay £280ish for a bat, but if it is awesome then it's worth the money. Keep us updated with how it goes over the season anyway.

I did write a review but it said that it was over 1000 characters so i couldnt post it.

A certain level or bartering was involved, but nothing major. Cant see the difference between this and superbests though, i just wanted the best bat possible and thought this would be worth the extra money.

Only time will tell if its worth the money, but im very happy with it so if it plays well then yes.

Would i be right in thinking fusions dont need knocking in, as it sounds quite tinny at the moment... as if it needs to be knocked in

The stickers look much better in the flesh, much more classy.

i got told just to play mine in, throw downs and stuff. I just used mine to knock up with for a few games and then started using it in nets, i wouldnt think that a little light knocking in would do any harm

I've removed the limit on characters, so if you want to write a review it should work now.

Wouldnt have paid £275 for that like. Love the gloves though look very nice indeed. Also it says that they have kept the best willow aside for these bats and tbh it doesnt look too special really :-\.

I think they mean best clefts as in lowest density Chrissy. When Fusion get clefts in every cleft is weighed and recorded, I would guess these are the lightest all they've had.

whats the black smudge? or is my computer reaching retirement age?

Yer the 'special' clefts were simply the lightest ones with reasonable grains. i Agree that there are far better grains about, but its meant to be purely a performance bat.

Can those in the know please give me some advice, im happy with the bat it picks up nicely and goes very well off the the lower middle. But any higher than the red line i have drawn and it feels completely dead and vibrates loads, which is odd as it is in the middle of the biggest point of the spine. I think that it may of perhaps been handled badly, there is a gap between the bottom of the handle and the bat, and i cant think of any other reason for these vibartions and deadness. The blue line is approximately the thickest part of the spine. Any ideas?

I personally can't see the hole at the bottom of the splice being the problem, as lots of batmakers have these. They're usually filled mind, with cane or filler.

With the problems you're having and considering the amount you've spent on the bat I'd contact Fusion directly and get it looked at.

Cheers, i think ill just wait and see if improves after a few nets, may just need a good battering in. As im sure if i sent it back now they would just say it needs time to play in!

Is the high middle just a deception, do fusions normally still ping from just below below the stickers?

Raymond thats what mine is like mate its looks to be the same problem as yours but mine isnt dead it just vibrates and ive had mine a season now and it seems to be getting better and better as i use it but my Fusion is starting to crack down a few grains! Is this a problem? Or just general wear and tear?

I quite like the position of the middle on my fusion, i am tall but its amazing how many shots are played from quite high up on the bat rather than towards the bottom

i could never use a bat with a middle that high. my m and h is the complete opposite!

Its not always the bat, sometimes we play in a certain style that does not allow us to time shots and we think it is the bat. I've seen our captain bin a bat after scratching about for 30 minutes and he said his bat was dead and gave it away there and then to a bowler who promptly turned the game around for us by bashing the same bowlers out of the ground without much effort using the same bat.

Thought i would report back after using the bat in games. I would say im very happy, it took a bit of playing in and didnt feel great but now its marvellous. I like the high middle and have been surprised at the number of shots that come from higher up, and its not that bad from lower down. Is a plank when not out the middle but thats concaved bats for you, i see it as a minor price to pay for the overall performance. So yes i would say that the bat was worth the money! Gloves are top notch aswell, they have very soft and supple palms which i feel enables me to get a better grip.

looks a very nice bat, although there looks a lot of concaving, is the middle very big ?
i have a gm hero that is completley the opposite to that, any thing not near the toe and it feels like im holding a jack hammer :L
