Title: Wood stock
Post by: roco on November 19, 2011, 06:53:02 PM
Lazing around this afternoon chatting to the hosk and the helmet man I decided to take a trip to Woodstock as not far from me

So phoned up Jon who said anytime was fine and I was on my way, apart from all the damn horses on the road it was a fairly nice journey and was met on side of the road by Jon who ushered me into the drive by the workshop. On entering I was met with part made after part made plus a couple of clefts and finished bats plus a couple he was repairing, after a chat about what i was looking for he pulled out a couple of part mades he thought would suit to which we discussed as went for a look not to buy but the sight of all that wood turned me into a naughty boy.So we chatted away about this and that while he showed me around then inside for a nice cup of coffee provided by his locket wife then address details etc and he showed me some sample softs he had in which were very high quality with real pittards palms plus knee locators in pads and although he said he had a few tweaks to make they looked and felt very good to me even the sausage ones which is strange as I don't like sausage gloves

In the end I went with a nearly finished bat which still needed binding and all finishing sanding done plus handle tidying up which weighed 2lb15 and Jon said he will be able to keep it 2lb15 or under finished without altering shape too much so looking forward to it as it had 44/45 mm edges at the time I saw it

Well the shapes are very very very similar to others I have had from people who are supplied by tk

But anyway they are well made and seem to respond very well off the mallet but test will be in a net I think

thats fair enough, it would make sense if he did. Perhaps he had a few from bt blades, i spoke to them recently and it was mentioned.

Sorry for asking so many questions but what is regular price without discount?

Cheers for all the help mate.

Hows the pickup I forgot to ask?

I was at local store the other day and saw that France one and it looked quite decent for its weight and everything really.

£200 but going to £250 next year he said

Pick up was good in mine which was surprising as it was not finished yet and had ultra low middle

The tour De force is the one I am getting just in xl

Looks like a great bat, their gloves are amazing too, the pittards are extremely soft. Glad I chose part sponsorship with them.

Weight is 3lb with chevron and spiral plus toe guard so 2lb14 normal
41mm edges not much concaving
Nice pick up and nice rebound will see how it feels with a little more knocking in but overall for the price very very impressed top finishing plus a self healing scuff thrown in for free

That looks lovely mate! Good to see so little concaving, I've just been having a discussion tonight about a new bat and that is pretty much what I was trying to describe to him! I'd have even thinner edges though....... ;)

Forgot to say, had a hit with a Tour De Force Platinum tonight, very, very nice stick...!
