Lost the toss and put into bat, a team of:
Strauss
Cook
Bell
Shah
Prior
Bopara
Ambrose
Rashid
Sidebottom
Khan
Panesar
-
Two seamers + Bopara we'll probably only bowl for half a day. . Does anyone know who's keeping?
-
Ambrose
Prior's away back to see the birth of his baby.

Ambrose
Prior's away back to see the birth of his baby.
For the 5th test.
-
Oh right, I thought he had already left?
-
He's playing in this match.
Look at the line up I posted :L
-
D'oh!!! Only saw Tiny Tim when I had a quick glance.
-
On what basis?
With Flintoff's injury we are going to miss his bowling the most so i'd bring in Sidebottom personally, although he's supposedly got a bit of an Achilles problem so Khan would get the nod in my book.
The selectors may look to use the situation as an excuse to bring Bell in at 6, we could only do this if it is an out and out result pitch and we can get by with 4 bowlers.
However, I'd like Prior-6, Broad-7, Swann-8, ...
-
We made 500+ with Freddie contributing a grand total of 0 runs.
We drew the last test match due to our inability to take 10 wickets on a day 4/5 pitch with 4 fit bowlers and a 50% Fred.
I have no doubts had Freddy been fit we'd have won that test.
Like I said we'll miss his bowling most so need to strengthen our bowling attack.
I'd like to Sidebottom come in.
If not then Khan.
If not Bell and Collingwood can bowl, Collingwoods bowling > Bopara's IMO.
If not then Bopara.

I think that we need to have 5 bowlers to have any chance of winning especially with Harmy still not fully firing. I would bring Sidebottom in for Harmison but if his not fit the only change would have to be Freddie for Khan, with Prior at 6 and Broad at 7. Tbh I think the england selectors will go with the 6 batsmen, bringing Bell back and 4 bowlers and rely on Colly to bowl some overs.

Bopara made 124*
Ambrose 74
Rashid - 1
Prior - 0
Bell - 44.
351/8d
They are apparently 18/3
-
Amjad Khan with 2 in an over according to my sources :P
-
3 of my friends are in that squad and theyre all teens
-
I just heard on the radio that Prior's missing the 4th test and is going to be back for the 5th.
-
yh thanks god i think ambrose is much better.
Gone to see his new baby that was born on sunday
-
Anyone slagging off Matt Prior at the minute clearly hasn't a clue, he has worked hard at his game. the keeping is coming on slowly but surely and batting wise he has always been fine. Ambrose is lucky to even be on the tour, there's much better keepers on the county circuit.
-
see kent boy amjad khan took 5 for 76, will england play him?
-
Its my opinion.
-
i agree with outlaw, what the hell is ambrose doing over there with the likes of steven davies, chris read, craig kieswetter and james foster watching the series at home on the sofa! after the summer ambrose had he definately should not be on the tour, should be getting experience playing regular cricket for warwickshire....
-
Chris Read - ICL
'Nuff Said about him.
-
Ben Scott is a decent keeper and top batsman.
-
kieswetter will definitely be one to consider in the future once he has qualified for England
-
yeah in 2010 he should have improved a lot aswell, so he should be a definate candidate for the gloves...
-
Steve Davies is in the ODI squad, spoke to him recently and he's gagging to get out there and make the most of any chance he may get, I hope England give him a shot he had a superb season he could fulfill the opening role which has eluded England in ODI's for a while now, and his keeping is very tidy.
-
yea i agree again outlaw! i saw steve davies play a game against somerset in the pro40 last year, opening the batting he scored 92 off about 60 balls, brilliant innings....
-
Steve Davies looked really good last year and hopefully he'll get a go in the ODI's because Prior didn't look up to opening in India.
