Title: Think I've been ripped off
Post by: 97notout on December 13, 2011, 03:58:59 PM
Didn't really know what section to put this in, but I thought as it related to purchasing keeping gloves I'd put it here.

Has anyone ever used or had dealings with a company called Orinav Sports, Singapore. I like the look of some SG Supakeep gloves as worn by Patel in the recent one dayers. To cut a long story short I bought a pair online, paid by PayPal and have heard squat since.

Even bombarded them with e mails, nothing.

Please don't state the obvious, that it will teach me, I am £52 down just wondered if anyone had used the company. :(

Did you send the money as a gift?

If you did then there is nothing you can do, if you sent it as a proper transaction then you can file a complaint and Paypal almost exclusively find in favour of the buyer, in which case they will refund your money after an investigation.

Might be worth E-Mailing laver and ask what they know about them cause they appear to be selling their bats?

How long ago was it that you placed the order?

Boys, thanks for your responses, I paid PayPal but not as a gift so I will get in touch with them. Okay it was only 3 days ago but I got a bit concerned when I didn't get a confirmation e mail from them.

I've used on line stockists and crickmart in the past, online are a bit slow but delivered the goods and crickmart came back straight away with an account number and delivery number.

I'll try Laver and see what they say.

Teach me though won't it. KAS strikes again and bites me on the bum. lol

Found these, I am torn! Part of me likes them, part of me thinks they look like a kid attacked them with a plaster set.

(sorry to wander from thread)

Ta, checked spam, nothing, all online stockists e mails get stuck in the spam filter.
Know what you mean about the gloves in the picture. I haven't gone for them. They look ok until you see the palms. lol
I've e mailed Laver and Wood and will see what they say about them.

hi, i currently live in Singapore, and have not heard of these people, to my knowledge there are really only 2 people who sell cricket gear here.  That's not to say that they don't exist.  The contact number on the bottom is a mobile number, so might be worth giving them a ring.  i'd be interested if they do exist, will save me a whole load of shipping fees.  Fraud here is a very well policed thing, the country is very much a police state unlike malaysia, indonesia or any other country in the region, so fingers crossed you should be ok.  Bear in mind that it's not cricket season here at the moment so he may have gone off on holiday and bear in mind that we're 8 hours difference if you do call.  I'll try to have a dig around to see what else i can find out

Maybe there was the weekend in between and that slowed the response down further? I hope you get this sorted out to your liking.

Thanks to you both,

Laver and Wood vouch for the authenticity of the company and state they are their main distributor in Singapore and South East Asia.

I was aware of the time difference but had not taken into account the fact it was off season. Looks like I might be eating a large slice of humble pie when they do get in touch.

You live and learn, I will keep you updated of developments and will post some pictures of the gloves when they eventually arrive :)

Seems like you have totally misunderstood the post there, he seems to be defending the country not attacking it!

its okay to defend, but don't compare with other specific country.. Most malaysian and Indonesian will surely be offended by his words...

Never understand why people take things like this? Blatantly not trying to offend anyone and taken completely out of context...

i'm not trying to offend anyone, but it's not easy to buy forgeries of any discription in Singapore, whilst knock offs of just about anything are available in malaysia, thailand, indonesia and the like.  I've lived here for 13 years and my mother is malaysian, i'f got a fair idea of what the area is like .. if not the small mindedness ;-) Have you ever tried to bribe a Singaporean policeman? good luck with that!

@sothos2 let me know how you get on, beforehand the best supplier i knew of here was Pritam at cotton and willow, but its at best a limited selection, and i mainly purchase from the UK where, i both know and trust suppliers from when i was still living there and the VAT reduction covers my shipping costs

Guys,

Thanks to all who gave advice, specially contacting Laver and Wood, who forwarded my details onto Orinav, who responded to my e mails.
They didn't realise people could access the site and make purchases as it wasn't supposed to be up and running for another month or so.
As I've paid they are going to send me the gloves. I guess I owe it to them to do a review on them when i get them.
At least you guys in that area will have somewhere to shop.

I've had the humble pie with salt on to make it less tasty, good job I didn't say I'd eat the gloves if they turned up. lol :)

Well a pair of gloves arrived today. Not quite the ones I ordered, SG Supakeep but in white and silver not the red and black ones. Initially disappointed but having tried them and done what most keepers do, worn them, looked at them, tried them with inners, caught a couple of balls in them, they're beginning to grow on me. The only thing i can't do in them is type.
I will try and post some pictures of them once I get photo booth sorted (or my son does).

I need to confess that I got the red ones as well from cricmart in the states, super quick delivery, will picture them as well.

There confession over. Kit obsession continues.  :)

Not a fan of the red ones but the white and silver look quite smart. How much did each of these set you back?
Title: Re: Think I've been ripped off
Post by: 97notout on December 20, 2011, 12:14:26 AM
The white were $80USD (about £52) thats including postage from Orinev and the red ones from crickmart USA around £90 including tax and postage. Okay a little expensive but thats the way it goes. Both pairs are really supple and hopefully will get better.
I'm a bit of a kit freak and collect keeping gloves like some people collect bats. I think I'm in a good place though, everyone on here seems to be the same.

I think I also need to change the title of the thread to 'Kit obsesive keeper panics when he makes multiple purchases' I definately wasn't ripped off I was just impatient. lol

Good that it worked out for you. Be careful of cricmart though---they are highly unreliable when it comes to the authenticity of their higher end products. SG and SS products should be good enough.
