Title: Hello
Post by: Blank Bats on December 22, 2011, 03:34:50 PM
Hello All

First and foremost we would like to thank the powers that be on the forum, for allowing us the opportunity to bring our products to you.

Over the coming weeks, we will be bringing you some great deals, including some very special opening offers. We have teamed up with well respected cricket bat makers from the UK (with decades of experience between them) and look forward to presenting our bats to you.

Our aim is to provide high quality products at extremely competitive prices. All bats will carry minimal stickers highlighting just our web address, but in the main will be blank.  All items will also carry the standard manufacturer’s warranty.

Our website is currently under construction and we expect it to be up and running in the New Year. In the meantime, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all forum members a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Exciting times ahead !!!

The team at Blank Bats.

what brands are expected?

Interesting idea. Although the industry and this forum in particular has always liked a name to put alongside the brand, hence the Tim Keeley and Rob Pack names thrown around by other brands. I'll be interested to see how another forum brand goes.

How much for a G1?

Point taken Tom. However, given the current economic climate, people are becoming savvy.
If the quality of a product is a given, then competition on the basis of price will only be good for the consumers. It is to be expected that our prices will be lower than established brands, because
1 no cost of stickers
2 there is no brand premium to be paid by the customer.

Our prices will be uploaded in due course.

Are they becoming savvy? A store I did work for in the summer offered their own blank bats alongside well known bats from all brands. Gray Nicolls accounted for 60% of bat sales. 95% of that revenue was generated in-store, indicating that brand names still play a huge part - even when the quality can be seen up close and in person. Brand loyalty is huge in cricket.

I do think there's a small market for plain equipment, if priced well, and I wish you the best of luck as many have come and gone in this sector of the market. If you can offer different shapes and a better quality to everyone else, then you have a market. But blank bats alone you're going to be competing with MSR and those boys on eBay as well as all the small brands.

blankbats.co.uk website doesn't work and it's a little bit of a "faceless" introduction. Is there anything you can share about yourself, your background and previous experience, to reassure members in any future dealings?

The website is under construction as we speak, we hope to have it up and running in the new year.

I hear what you are saying, i have played cricket for a long time, and i am a bat enthusiast. Simple as that. I have developed some very good contacts. I am sure our bats will do the talking, as ultimaltely that is what matters. There is no compulsion to buy.

I have recently purchased a blank bat mainly as a net bat and I think that this is a potential market i.e. decent bats that may not look that special but are very good value.
It is funny how so many people are guided by stickers and brands, personally I do not really like any of the big brand names and would actually avoid them when buying bats as I would rather have something more individual.
It will be interesting to see the pricing and quality of these. Have you thought about introductory forum offers or competitions that may get a few in to peoples hands and generate a review or two?

Agreed, by it's very nature you won't be able to create any kind of brand which just leaves value for money and customer service to compete on really.

we at blankbats know quality cricket bats and we feel the market should be provided with quality and value. That is our selling point.

value for money and good customer service is everything although we throw quality in the mix.....

I would say quality is part of value. A £300 bat could be good value for you if it is perfect for you game, performs brilliantly, looks great and lasts well just as a £50 bat that picks up like a plank, look awful and has no middle is terrible value  :)

Quality is main thing, if BlankBats offer quality products (which I'm sure they will!) then there is definitely market for them.

A quality product with or without stickers and brand would sell because the product/item will speak for itself.

Welcome to the Forum.

Will you offer to replicate bats at similar priced products to your own?
