Title: where to start?

I am thinking of making a new bat after xmas using some of the money i get but i don't really have a clue what tools i will need.

could you give me an idea of what i will need to make one?

A good workbench, a spokeshave (or two) and a plane. A drawknife is also pretty helpful, but you can make a bat without one. I managed to make a bat using only a plane and a saw.
