Gotta love this bloke fellas. I can't really describe him in any other way besides awesome and a great role model. Oh yeah great batter and keepr too.

He sure was one fine cricketer. He could have been a great captain as well had it not been for ponting

Don't know about that mate... Ponting hasn't really done anything drastically wrong IMO..

He's Changed What People Look For In A Keeper Now.
He Completely Redefined The Role Of A Wk.

England Have Tried To Mimic What He Did At The Top Of The Order In ODI's, Without Success..... Simply Because There Is Nobody Else Like Gilly!

The only reason he wasn't captain was he messed up in England at Headingly (I think) when the aussie's were going for a whitewash and he left England a chance to win and he did.

Nah i just think he would have been it, just the age thing and the amount of time ponting spent in the nineties that probably got him. Apart from the 05 ashes ponting hasn't really stuffed up. But could you imagine the scores he would get in club cricket, as in local club.

Gilly is a one of a kind who there never will be another of as demonstrated time and time again such as the WACA 06 ashes or the 07 WC final or the IPL match.
