Ian Bell has left Adidas for Kookaburra. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Pietersen will be next to leave?
-
Pietersen won't leave, Adidas need someone. Shame about Bell, I liked him with Adidas, although I suppose he won't actually use a Kookaburra bat, and Kookaburra needed someone to appeal to the UK market a bit more. All the kids have GM's or GN's
-
Good signing for them i should think. Must be the best Northern Hemisphere test player using Kook, unless I'm missing someone. Surprised someone like GM or Gray Nicholls didn't snap him up though if they knew he was thinking o fmoving.
-
Mr Cricket likes this... hes gonna look so cool!
-
He has as well! Just looked on the Kook site and there he is with a Recoil, thats a good signing by them.
-
good spot Lexx
-
time to get a lid back on his head ;)
-
england players will be in high demand at the minute, kook didnt have any established england test players before this but obviously saw that they had to get in to the market, im sure theyve paid a pretty penny to stave off any competition, and im sure there must have been some!
-
I'm quite happy with this :) Now just for Pietersen to stroll out with a Newb and i'l be content

Confirms my suspicion that ponting and bell swapped brains in 2009..... Bell became a brutal run-scoring machine and ponting became a jittery overrated hack. Won't be long til Punter gets sponsored by Adidas to finish off the swap!

:D like this alot.
His gold lid for worcs looked awesome!

warks lol ;)
-
yeah he loved them and gave us a foot in the door with the ECB :)
-
I'm sure hawk will still make his bats lol
-
It looks a bit wrong to me - seeing a player with a new sponsor in different gear throws me! When Strauss had to wear an Albion helmet because his GN one had broken, it just looks weird!
-
warks lol ;)
Last time I looked Worcestershire was spelt with a O not an A :D
-
Looks like this could be your chance them Tom! Would be awesome if once was used by an england player in a test match.
Bell is going to look awesome in kookaburra gear!
-

Ian bell plays for Warwickshire though lol, hence warks, not worcs :D
-

Does anyone In world cricket use a Kookaburra lid? Get involed sir!! You'd go intergalatic if he wore one in test match :)
-
When will you get an Aussie in an Ayrtek lid Tom???
-
Not sure hopefully as just had a report back that we commissioned on the Australian market....hopefully a visit in early 2012 on the cards to see what we can do :)
-
Bell certainly gets around.
First Gray nics, then Slaz, Adidas and now Kook
-
World domination one step at a time mate. Is it a similair stranglehold from Albion over there, that there is (as I perceive) from Masuri over here?
-

Haha ooops. *walks off into obsurity*

Well bring that bat with no number and I won't have to pay freight will I.... Lol

Perth, Sydney and Melbourne trip!
Perth is great. Absolutey the best place I've ever been. Everyone is cricket mad. Huge sports shop there called Slater Gartrell- cricket heaven!
Sydney was an odd place! Felt like I was in London there were so many of us there for the Ashes.
-
Looking forward to it if I manage to find time to go :)
-
Just came across this picture of Ian Bell looking very happy with himself after signing for kook :D
(http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/3795/1325714093840.jpg)
-
And he's pretty much copied my signature!
-
It has to be the longest 7 letter signature I have ever seen
-
he's gonna look so good in kook gear!,
my guess is that them pads will be sitting very low!
anyone find any better images than this? only shows gloves really

Looks like he has a steel grill now tho instead of titanium
-
hes gonna look awfull in kook gear!
-
Looks like he may actually be using a Kook
Look at the square toe on that

http://www.espncricinfo.com/db/PICTURES/CMS/136900/136926.jpg the toe on his Adidas was rather square as well though...
-
Not sure if he is using bats supplied by Kook themselves.
Maybe he stickered his old Adidas bats and still getting his bats made from a UK batmaker he has been using for long and putting Kook stickers.
Kook wouldn't be bothered as long as they are getting the publicity they are paying for.
-
He's probably just re-stickered like you say.
If he's been using them for ages, he isn't going to want to change just because of a different contract.
Well unless it was in the contract that he has to use Kookaburra blades
-
His bats are made at Hawk in Belbroughton, Worcestershire.
-
His bats are made at Hawk in Belbroughton, Worcestershire.
I hear that bounded around every week - but other than on here, have you got actual evidence that they are made there?
-
I was going to say, I've only ever heard it on here that he uses hawk.
Not seen or heard any real evidence about him using them
-
Fellas - according to rumours, he's been using Hawk bats for years!
Did he used to use Hawk? Yes!
Does he still use Hawk? We don't know! Only Hawk and Bell know. Maybe he does sometimes or won't use anything else! Or maybe He's happy to try other brands. And maybe he is happy to stick with his sponsors bats.
But unless someone knows for sure, then best not speculate guys?
-
i've spoke to his old coach at Moseley who had a couple of his adidas' and i asked where they were made and he said hawk.
-
Ok - so as the rumours say that he may still have got a few made at hawk when he was at Adidas. But you'd need to see if he got them all made by hawk?
Also whether he will continue to get them made by hawk?
-
I personally feel the debate where the player gets his bats made is unnecessary. Sometimes players have 2-3 diff bat suppliers and they pick the best ones from the lot sent to them and sometimes they just might pick something from the brands warehouse.
I would assume that the players are more concerned about the feel, balance and performance than who or where the bats were made and what grade willow was used.
As long as they keep scoring runs and bat for long, their sponsors should also not be concerned with which bat they used and why.
-
Whatever hes using the grains on it look seriously nice!
-
id say most of his adidas bats were made by hawk, if you ever visit hawk, the photos of his and pietersens bats are all over the workshop. they also have a signed ian bell test shirt displayed in the shop, 'to michael and robert, cheers for the bats, belly'.
early december when i went, they had just sorted pietersens bats for this tour (unfortunately i didnt go early enough to see the bats although they were delayed in being sent to kp as adidas had none of the KP stickers left that have to be stuck under the adidas stickers), they never mentioned they had made bells but knew he was on his way to kook. They had also made james taylors bats so i can only presume they have/ had a contract with adidas.
As both Michael and Robert are quite open about talking about the bats, it kinda makes me think they're legit and is some sort of contract there. They will also be at the cricket roadshow at edgbaston in feb so if anyone goes there, ask them.
-
I've also been there a few times and they are happy to talk about bats they have made for Bell and KP. They said they usually do the repairs for adidas pro players. They let me have a play with both KP's and Bells bats which they had in for repair when I went in at the end of summer. KP's had about 20 narrow straight grains, big edges and far better than the identical top of the range adidas bat they were also repairing which was an off the shelf bat.
-
Adidas and Hawk have a tie-up for repairs and refurbs and possibly for making some bats here for their sponsored players
-
obviously none of these rumours would never hurt sales.
-
To jump on an old thread rather than start a new one... Belly has been going to this place for years for his bats. Confirmed in this pic as stated above

I'll be surprised if Kookaburra let this stay up long, if I was an owner wouldn't be happy.
-
Bell is not sponsored by Kookuburra any longer
he moved sponsors again
But the actually bats have always been made at hawk :)

of course i forgot that well known brand... those were the days...
-
He has changed sponsors more than a woman changes shoes!!
One if these days, just one, id love to see him walk out with a hawk bat.
It might help a small company sell more bats..and he would be helping the Uk economy
-
I don't believe this for a second, Bell is sponsored by Woodworm so his bats are all made by Woodworm's head bat maker! ;)
-
Do hawk make all kook pro bats?

Course they don't, Kookaburra do... ;)

Can't be a Hawk then! ;)
I've been told by someone who used to live local that they're rebound for pressing the performance out of their bats
-
He wasnt allowed to get his bate made at hawk while he was sponsered by kook. He is now his moved

In the early days the bats were known to take a while to open up but now you can have what the pros get the bat is called Players edition.
-
It looks like Bell has signed back with Adidas...
-
We had talks with his agent regarding sponsoring him, however way out of our budget.

Out of interest Matt, which company is that?
Another Nosy question, but what sort of ball park figure would a player of Ian Bell's calibre command for sponsorship?
