Never worn a lid before, so only looking for a cheap experiment to start with.
I play at a pretty gentle level, so don't need anything super-duper, just wondered from those in the know, what is the cheapest / lightest lid?
I've seen plasticy stuff from Puma, SS and GN I think - with the holes in etc to reduce weight.
Any advice?

The cheapest steel masuri is only £40/£50
-
Club Mk 2 with Ti grille mate if ur on a shoestring budget....
-
I like the look of the Puma Lids.
If you look at the top it looks a smiley face =)
-
What about some of these GM ones at £30 - any good?
-
Not bad but found that the liners have a tendency to come away on the 2 iv got in the office as the polystyrene is only glued to the shell

Try the Slaz elite helmet. Cheaper than a Masuri and exactly the same shell just a slightly different grille. No difference in weight, fits well, protects good and doesn't cost much....I've got one and it's all I need...

This is what it looks like but I am sure you can find them for cheaper if you hunt around. They often appear on eBay......

This might be worth a punt, I doubt it will go for much more than the opening bid?

Somerset couthy sports had some slazenger ones half price in their sale, may be worth giving them a ring

I've got the gn elite helmet with the arytek ti grille. I have found this to be the lightest helmet with this combination on the market

IMO you should try borrowing one for a game or two.
If you buy cheap you'll get a heavy one that you may not want, though an expensive one could be a costly mistake if you just don't get on with it.
I've got a ti Mas that I bought last year, having never worn a helmet before (was always really worried about the weight and it's bearing on my neck being a real hindrance) , and I might as well be wearing a baseball cap such is it's lightness. On the 3rd delivery I inside edged a cut that bounced off the wicket and smacked me in the grill.
Never looked back since!

Just re-awakening this, as after having a net last night, and behaving like a proper batsman and attempting to get my nose over the ball as I 'drive' it would appear I may need a helmet.
There are so many, can anyone tell me difference between, or had any experience of :-
Albion Club Mark II
Albion Test Series Club
Gray Nichols Predator

Ayrtek mentioned Club Mk 11 above...
I had a Test Series Club. It was okay, but found it a touch heavy. Only wore it two or three times.
It was my first helmet though. Only decided to wear one now because of fear of smashing my teeth.

See if you can pick up an Albion shell cheap and then buy buzz's Ti grill for it
-
Must be a test or elite series Albion though ;) (nice plug, thanks Liam!)

Every little helps!
