Title: 2009 Kit Reviews Online
Post by: Howzat on March 07, 2009, 06:55:25 PM
TWC and AOC have posted their kit reviews online if you didnt manage to get hold of the mag.
In my opinion AOC is much fairer rather than just saying this bat is 3lb we cant lift it so its s***.

Seems odd both have different prices for a Fusion LE TWC making it £75 dearer

they should state the weight of bats....  To me, and I've picked up a few now, the Pellara picks up heavy

I see Newbery did well with there 3 ish bats!

the ratings are not very helpful in making a choice. Not much to choose between the bats, feel the price has played an important role in the final verdict.

Find the reviews on bats not much use really, they don't ask for a spec of bat so how is it the batmakers fault if it doesn't suit the player who's testing it. Also what would stop a company sending the best bat available, which isn't necessarily even made by the same company as who does the rest of the bats?

I think they've been very harsh on a few due to weight and stickers.

Interesting reading but I wouldn't go on this on what kit to buy.

exactly my point keeper.

it is up to a individual and his preferences. Buying a bat is different from buying a car. Such surveys/reviews are really no good.

i thought the newbery sps 2 pads got a harsh review, i have been through three sets of pads trying to find some good ones and they are the best i have had so far

If you buy your kit based on reviews from publications like those two listed then you deserve everything you get, i find the reviews in publications like this are not as independent as you may think, some of the comments are Grinch worthy and the poor attempt at humour in places is more than a little off putting. Reviews should be done independently and all bat weights should be listed to give the reader a fair review on a product which is either a match to his spec or not.

I do continuously ask myself questions about the people who are reviewing the kit and there ability to put aside brand issues and provide a good and fair review which discerning customers can rely on, i would rather see all the comments made on each item by each person testing the equipment with them stating which brand and weight they currently use etc etc.

its odd how the millichamps are rated highly in the aoc reviews but not even mentioned in the wisden, can really understand that....

Yes, they are in today. The reviews in the magazine are different to the ones online. Also gives a lowdown of the testers and what were there individual picks.

disappointing to see that redback didn't get one of the best bats in the aoc review. thought it would have been up there considering the way it seems to be highly regarded by a lot of people. aoc tend to really plug willowstixs tho, which i'm sure some forum members on here would disagree with!

i agree with the reviews being pretty ordinary. esp in wisden. how on earth can you mark something down for being the wrong weight for the reviewer! if your gonna review bats, set up a review team who have a range of batting styles and bat prefrences.

Willowstixs advertise in AOC so I think they just want to keep them sweet, anyway they are decent bats with the willowstixs stickers on them ;) Which I do actually quite like!

i agree with leo, they advertise all the time in aoc. but they are good bats, the owner plays for a team who toured against our club, there whole team use them lol
