Title: Dehumidifier...
Post by: MD2812 on January 10, 2012, 11:01:12 PM
Odd question I know,

So I finally got my cricket kit brought down from the midlands to my new place in London.

Due to a damp wall I have a dehumidifier in my room, my cricket kit is now in my room, with my bats inside.

Is this likely to dry my bats out, although they are in a bat cover/kit bag?

It nearly killed my plant Wilson :(

It might.Keep your bat in a combination of the bathroom cupboard and your room and you should achievea nice balance...

oooh, been there before.  Be wary - unless its a very powerful one, it won't suck all the moisture out of the flat from one room, but it'll probably dessicate the room its in.

On the flip side could a humidifier hurt a bat too? i live in canada and since it gets very cold here the heat is usually pretty high in the house which dries out the air so we have a humidifier, i am concerned that either the heat or the humidifier will get to my bats...

Cool and dry is best for most timbers. You're best leaving your bat in the shed.

That's just as likely to dry the bat out mate...

Depends if your roof leaks? I've got loads of odd and sods of all kinds of different soft/hardwoods sitting in my work shop and they're fine.
