I dont get all this left hand or right hand pad stuff..
pads are just pads how can a set be left or right handed(should be legged anyway)
some pads ive had had a bit of extra padding at top of your front leg but had velcro in so u could take it and stick it in other ..
just read some one say that they are not sure about ambi pads?
surley all pads are like this!?
-
Is this a wind up?
If not its extra padding on out side of leg ie on right hand pads extra padding on left hand side so protected if ball is legside
-
Not sure if this is a joke, but thought I'd say it anyway.
There is extra padding to protect your calf with RH and LH specific pads. If you have a look at your pads you will see the extra padding/wing on one side, but not the other.
Ambi dextrous pads have that bit of extra padding both sides, so RH and LH can wear them. The padding is smaller than on normal RH and LH pads though.
-
defo not a wind up i never notcied and when buying pads i have never seen LH/RH listing for pads
-
Same for left and rh gloves
Your not alone a lad at my club has been using rh pads since he was 12 (25 now) and did not realise there was rh and lh pads
-
gloves are diff tho cos of padding on the thumb
i am 100% my ayrtek pads where both identical and i am 100% my h4l's 1's are as well!
why do people talk about buckets inside or outside etc if there is obv rh/lh pads
-
Yes both rh pads and both lh pads will have the side protection in same place but a lh set of pads will have padding the opposite side to a rh set of pads
-
lol i get it now!
the extra bit of padding is usually on the left hand side of both pads for rh's
and the right hand side of both pads for left handers!
lolz
guess this didnt really matter on old style pads where it was just cain all the way down and pads where same but on modern 1's there is usally the fancy design on the extra padding.
sorry for being a retard

Not just you as I said plenty are not clued up
Most wear wrong size pads and thigh guards

Plus as well you'd prefer the strap buckle return thingy on your inside leg (so the straps point outwards) so they don't come undone!

nooooo the buckles should be on the outside... pads don't really come undone these days and you wouldn't want to be given out "caught" off the overlapping strap of you pads down the leg side...
-
i have buckelts on inside :)
but i allways have because when i was young i had thin legs and the straps used to rub when running!
now i have fat legs there is no strap left over handing so i dont run the risk of that happening buzz

I'm 6ft 3 and a fair few stone and have never owned pads without at least a few inches of straps too long.
The fttt fttt fttt fttt fttt of the straps as you run between the wickets would drive me nuts!

never had that problem either... there are some wierd pad issues coming to light today :o
-
There are some pads that have distinct front and back pads (an old pair of Slazenger V600 pads I had are an example)
On all of these pads, which tended to have extra protectio non the front leg, the buckles were on the OUTSIDE!!!
Maybe, if a forum cricket match ever happens that how we should pick the teams - the OUTSIDES v the INSIDES

Kookaburra pads have an extra couple of canes on the front pad if I'm not mistaken. They all buckle to the inside.
