As the title says, what weight do you use? Would be intersecting to see what everyone uses, I reckon 2lb 9oz - 2lb 10oz will be most popular.
-
Nice symmetry on the voting end so far!
-
My money is on 2.7 - 2.8.
My 2 are 2.10 & 2.14ish
-
2.11 to 3lbs is a huge bracket and will skew the results somewhat I would think!
-
I am a 2lb 8oz or 2lb 9oz
-
I go on pickup and feel to be honest.
Although I buy/say 2.8ish but they are well over 2.10
-
2'11 to 3lbs is a big jump!
-
Current bat is 2.8. Feel most comfortable around the 2.10 mark.
-
Sorry about the big jump guys, should I reset and change the options or just leave it? ???
-
Is this finished weight after grip set up etc???
People don't realise how easy the weight adds up on a bat.....
I know payers that think they're using 2.7's but if you weighed them they'd be closer to 2-10
-
Yeah, sorry if I didn't make that clear, it's what weight you use (like in a game) not what it's advertised as.
-
My preferred final finished weight is 2lb9oz / 2lb10oz but may use a 2lb11/2lb12 if the pick-up is good.
Weight also depends on the profile I use mid or low middle
-
I'd be interested to see what weight bat people think they use and the actual weight of their bats

I think I used 2lb 8.5oz and it was weighed last week at chase at that exact weight!
-
I thought i was using a 2, 9 weighed it a year later after oiling regripping etc and it was a healthy 2, 13 and a bit
-
Same with mine, started off around 3'2, stuck 2 more grips and a scuff sheet on and god knows what it would be now!
Was interesting last time i went up to M&H, the guys were telling me that even 'cherries' on the bat can even add up after a prolonged time to add around an ounce to the weight of the bat, although not 100% how correct this is, thoughts?
-
My old m&h gained an ounce over a few seasons so maybe!

Very easily. 25g to the ounce, roughly and 100 cherries, wouldn't be at all surprised!
-
what so the difference between a 2.8 and a 2.12 is a couple of mars bars or so?
-
yeah, but when taping a few mars bars to my bat to see what a heavier weight is like it makes loads of difference
-
Was going to say a 2.8 and a 2.12 feel so different its quite surprising how close the weights are.
-
looks like just under 75% of players go 2'10 or below. Makes me wonder why many batmakers and retailers keep selling bats on this forum a fair bit heavier. Very odd.
Preferred weight for me is 2'7-2'8 but I can never find something meaty enough in that weight. End up going for 2'9 with a good pickup. Tends to give me enough weight and wood to do the job.
-
I used to use around 2.10 but after using a mates 2.7 bdm in a net I now use that weight. I play more correct and I'm quite a powerful guy so don't really notice any performance difference.
I've got a slazenger v2 county and it feels like a wand.
If you're looking to bat 35-45 overs I think a heavier bat fatigues you a lot more, even though you might hit a few more boundaries. I value bat speed and timing over pure power!

not really - most of us are a) bat geeks and b) play seriously. Over 80% of the players in this country and not in category a) and many of those barely fall in category b - and if you look at the average Sunday side where none of them have to face anyone of any pace, they tend to go for 3lb biffers!
-
I face decent pace and use a 3lb and I'm not that old cheeky ;)
If it suits you a heavy bat can correct your technique as a light one has done above as helps to stop you swinging as hard and sachin has used a 3lb for a double hundred and seemed fine not to mention gayles couple of triple hundreds so it's what suits a batsmen as I can use a 3lb bat for 50 overs and have done
-
for me it depends on the actual pick up of the bat as i have a 2.6 a 2.8 and 2.10 depends what mood im in tooo haha

hehehe, I use a 3lbv 4 on occasion, but I suspcet thee and me are the exceptions...
-
I have to agree not many about can handle decent pace with a big bat as I know lads my size that use 2lb10 as any heavier they are late so it's a funny old game
-
3lb2oz to 3lb4oz here
-
I use 2'11 or 2'12!
Used to use massive 3lb bats when i was younger, but could never play the pull.
Worked on it with a lighter bat recently and it's a lot better
After seeing some of the sizes of roco's bats, and seeing him play the short ball, have to say he handles big bats and pace very well!
-
Your ever so kind Tom I guess big bats help with the lack of ability but I'll take it
-
Haha you said it mate!
-
You've seen roco's big wood?!?!???
-
On more occasions than I care to mention mate! ahaha
Been on the receiving end sometimes as well! hahaha

out of curiousity - to compensate, I tend to use a very short backlift and punch through the ball with the bottom hand - you?
-
I tend to lift bat up earlier and seems to give me more time
Was that when you were swearing at me that there is an offside and to stop sweeping Tom?
-
That wasn't at you mate!! haha
That was they guy with the lekka that dispatched me over cow!
-
Tim the blocker yeah he can't play spin for toffee so has the 1 shot but he did do a reverse sweep last game of season which shocked us more than the bowler
-
Haha, it was either a block or a horrible hack!
Had you dropped in that over, than got taken off! #nevertrustyourpro
-
Yeah pretty regulation slip catch down
No one trusts your pro as he is a blatant cheat
-

Disagree a bit on this. My Sunday guys don't go anywhere near 2'12 or above and most will have a play with the pickup before borrowing a bat. 9 times out of 10 they go for the light stick. They aren't great cricketers by any means but in my opinion broadly similar to an average Sunday team, perhaps a bit younger than most (avg age mid 20's?).
-
Yeah couldn't believe he dropped it i was fuming!!
He's not a cheat, he just doesn't walk, bit extreme to say he's a cheat!!
-
I have bought a 2.8lb first off from an up and coming new cricket company :D, will see how it goes but might go up to a 2.9 for a 2nd bat.
-
Well different opinions I just don't know anybody that likes him as there's not walking and what he does but that's his method so fair enough
-
It's not him that's the cheat, I personally don't walk so does that make me a cheat? lol
It's not his fault out umpire doesn't give him out :/
-
We differ on that but that's his choice so all good not going to argue over it
Do t get me started on your ump as even your players moan about him
-
Haha we will end this discussion here!
And leave the topic to carry on talking about bat weights :D
-
the 2.13 went like a good un in nets but will take a bit of getting used too as the swell is different to my match bat
