So, nightmare, my new Uzi pads squeak against my shoes!
What can I do to combat this?
Thanks
-
Wear longer pants so that the pants create a barrier between the two.
-
either a little bit of electrical tape around the bottom of the pad or some vaserline on the shoe or pad...
-
What about that cloth tape you can get? Would that be any good?
-
Thanks buzz, just mocked up some electrical tape on there and it works good. That will have to be a quick fix, then I'll get some of that cotton tape like GN use for bat repairs
-
the cloth tape will work ok, but will leave a grey and sticky mark on your shoes and pads - i used some of this on a old set of pads I used to use as I had worn a hole in the bottom of them.
To be honest it will stop once the pads have been worn a few times in the indoor nets - I would wait a while before you start defacing your new pads :)
-
cloth tape or pull the shoe flap out (like Dravid does)

If you take the vaseline method, just ensure you do it outside of the changing rooms! Walking into a changing room with a room full of bloke and a jar of vaseline in your hands is likely to make a few of your teamates nervous! :o
-
Hope my new pads squeak when they arrive....fingers crossed
-
Is the Vaseline a one off thing? Or would I have to do it before every match?
Buzz, would the cloth tape only leave marks when you take it off?
And where can I get cloth tape off?

and yes is the answer to the other question on the pads

Use them Liam !! Ie wear them in. The more you use them the more supple they will get. I guess if at the end of the season they are still squeaking then you have not scored enough runs !!
-
I just don't want them being all squeaky for my first net on Monday night.
I mind try Vaseline then if it's a one off thing, was think anti scuff could be a could idea.
The general consensus is to loosen them up and they will stop squeaking then
-
Bulldog is completely right, you just have to wear them in
-
Will having tape on the I step affect this wearing in?
-
it wont make much difference - but I would just wear them personally, the squeeking will go in no time (unless you have the hawk pads!!)
-
Ok, thanks for all the help guys. These pads also have a lot of padding in them, so will take a bit of sweat to losen them up!
-
just don't put them in the bath...!!!!!!!!!!
-
I most certainly will not!
Thanks for all the help guys!

What I do with new pads is wear them around the house. Breaks them in, you look super cool and prevents you.banging your legs on things. It's a win win situation
