Title: Scorpion bat
Post by: essexarsenal on January 19, 2012, 04:27:53 PM
Went down to Warsop to get a bat made for me. I wanted my favourite profile which is little concaving with a high ish middle. It weighs 2lb9 and has 14 grains with a little strip of heartwood. It responds very well of the mallet, I own a few bats now (feeling a bat inventory soon  :D ) and this is easily up there with the best I own.

It has the new scorpion stickers on, would be interested to hear some opinions on the stickers as a few people have said they dont like their new range.

Warsop make some serious bats no doubt about that, this is a real beauty. Any questions fire away.

Nice to see another more traditionally profiled bat  ;) Looks lovely, not keen on the stickers but that's just personal preference.

That looks very good mate, I like the stickers personally,

How much was the service to get it made at the warsop factory?

Still £225, they dont change the price if you want a specific profile.

£225 and it made in front of you is a very good price, I know most charge an extra 10%, Hope the bat goes well for you.

Willow looks very nice and like the profile too. Toe looks very square although might just be the photos.
Not sure on the stickers, don't quite seem to fit with the "bat makers since 1870" image but fully custom at that price I would not complain!

I have to say that the scorpion stickers are good. I like the grain of the bat too. Is it soft pressed? My old Platinum took ages to knock in...

That picture shows the marlin, and on left there is a killer. Poor photo but you get the idea.

Alvaro - yes fairly.
Cover drive - I prefer warsop to TK just my opinion. Maybe a little bias as Im from Essex but both are great batmakers.

Spell 'Marlin' in your post.
This is Merlin:

or, if going down the Warsop animal route:

Lovely bat and stickers look very classy.

Did you have it made in front of you as I remember they never used to offer this service?

I'm tempted to try another warsop but I didn't get along with my last one. Seems their prices have gone up a fair bit as remember the platinum used to be around £160.

Warsop bats are decent. Alot of them at my club and guessing at essexarsenal's club too. Their bats are normally a traditional shape with not alot of bow in them. The grains of these are normally really nice if your a grain tart.
They do still their butterfly range in bats and softs, i am not a fan of their butterfly softs. I am taking a punt here that the butterfly bats are off the shelf only and not custom made.
At there factory (shed) they have many bats of all ranges to choose from, so always something there to suit.

Tony is a top guy. He has always got my bats spot-on and they all performed really well. The pick-up and balance cannot be faulted.

Top bats abd still very well prices comp3ed to other similar bats from the bigger brands

Bat looks good mate. Like the stickers as well, always thought they looked nice since Adam Wheater started using it
