Title: Bradbury in, M&H and Newbery on the way...
Post by: ItsJustCricket on January 19, 2012, 05:40:39 PM
We are delighted to announce that we now have a range of Bradbury bats in stock.  In addition, our Millichamp & Hall range is arriving tomorrow.

Further, we have just today placed an order with Newbery...

If you're a fan of hand made bats, this is certainly a good time to make use of your CBF10 discount code! :-)

Pics always help to sell the bats, anything you can show us?

agree, don't think many people are fans of stock pics on this forum.

They don't show the full picture of what the bat will be like. I really like the way Asad does his pictures for his website.

Could get some close up digital photos done today, but for the purposes of the website, we would always stick with the manufacturer's stock photos.

If you want a closer look at these - or any of our other bats - we recommend visiting our London store.  It's not open for business yet, but we're currently using it as showroom, with all the bats out on display already.

if you are around the London area that's great and most forum members would prefer to pickup a bat first before buying. However that wouldn't help people in Leeds, hence the request for the pics.

Will you have M&H bags?

I'll get some close-up digital shots done (of the Bradbury bats) later today and email them over to you.  Understand the distance makes it tough for you to come and stop by!

Not stocking M&H bags, but we are stocking some Newnbery ones, including their new (massive) Tour bag.

Shop due to open to the public in mid-February.  Technically, it's open now, but strictly for appointment only.

Interesting to see they have resorted to a lamitoe as well or have Bradbury always used them?

A lad at my club had one last season and it had a lamitoe, not sure how long they've been doing it for?

The lamitoe is the insert you can see in the toe of the bat.
It strengthens the toe and helps against those nasty yorkers cracking the toe!  >:(

This is a stunning piece of willow  :o

Awesome work Paul; do you guys get to handpick your bats as well?

I need to rob a bank  :(

As far as I can recollect the lamitoe was introduced on Bradbury bats in 2011. But guess it is for the shop bats only as the lamitoe makes the bats grade B (I think so).

That face is flatter than a very flat thing. You'd cut yourself on those edges!

Wherever possible, yes - sometimes it can't be done though, but in these cases we've usually been lucky in the quality of willow sent to us - Bradbury being perhaps the best example...

flat face = enhanced edge size which apparently is all the rage at the moment....people must bat with the edges nowadays ???

Sam Miller, formerly of Chase (famous for their Lamitoe), now runs Masuri & Bradbury UK. Which is why they've only recently been introduced.

flat faces are gay

having tried couple of bats with a flat face, I really like them. especially Pete's Charlie French, I find it easier to control the slightly off centre shots.
so it isn't just about edge size.

I just don't like the look for them with the really sharp edge. I'm not sure I have enough talent to worry about controlling slightly off centre shots.

You can have a flat face with rounded edges.

Post by: Buzz on January 22, 2012, 06:37:59 PM
I think the cf bats don't have quite the same sharp edges.
I am sure johnny or Pete could confirm.
it isn't about controlling the ball, it stops the ball sliding off the face so much. I think...!
it could well prove to be a bit of a fad... this I think should be taken elsewhere

It's easier to late cut and off glance the ball with a flat-faced bat, and it doesn't look like you've edged it as well.

Indeed - definitely the sharpest edges of all the bats we stock.  I think the lamitoe is a stylish addition too.  They're such a distinctive brand, Bradbury, so I'm surprised so few of our competitors stock them...

finding that with a flat face off centre shots make the bat wrench around in your hands more than a traditional face rather than glancing off more

i have a bradbury players, and can honestly say they are top notch. mine came new off the pete hosk. the flat face doesn't take much getting used to and the response is superb!
