Title: Should I buy these tools?

Hi guys going to try do a few bat modifications/refurbs before making a proper bat. Have an oribital sander but need a few more tools. Was wanting to get your views on these tools

Let me know what you think. Keeping my budget low as I am starting out. Please tell me if there is any more tools I require

If you can I would spend a little bit more if you can on the spokeshave and pick up a stanley or a record one, even if it is 2nd hand in good nick.
The travisher you have listed, is only the iron and you will need to make the handle or have someone make the handle for you for this to work.

Hi Maverick would you mind sending me a link for the spokeshave you recommend? Also the seller that is selling the iron is also selling the handles. does it look good? if so I will buy handles of him. Or should I buy one with handles?

I bought a cheap one to begin with and it didn't work that well so I think it's better to spend a bit more on quality tools that will do the job well.

In terms of the travisher, if you can get the handle then it will do the job. I looked at these originally but couldn't get a handle so I have a convex spokeshave instead which is similar to a snell & atherton which also work well for concaving.

That's a convex spokeshave, you might want a drawknife too

Scottish: I have just bought one of G&Ms complete travishers and they are nice tools, but I think I prefer the older onese I bought as they seem to remove wood faster and don't clog up as easily. This might be becuase the new one needs running in maybe as it is not as smoothed down as the vintage tools yet.

No, I haven't got one. For concaving I've devised a tool that's basically a homemade belt sander - a piece of sandpaper glued to a bit of drain that's motorised so it spins. Only allows subtle concaving though.
