From 1st Feb 2012, the forum discount code CBFORUM will achieve £35.00 discount, instead of the current £50.00
-
I take it if you ordered before end of Jan it will still be £50 off.
How customised can you make your bats?
-
Sure is....
Pretty customised... email info@blackcatcricket.com for a chat...
-
whew, just got my order in in time then - ah the joys of finally being paid!!! :D
-
I so wanted to buy Black cat But shipping to USA is 35 pounds which kills the deal.. There should be some other way around this..
-
How does shipping work out? Different brands and stores quote different prices for shipping bats ranging from 20 pounds to 40 pounds for shipping a bat to US/Canada. I know there is a difference between courier and Royal Mail so probably retailers could provide the option.
-
Rajesh, shouldnt you get the Vat taken off if you are buying from USA?
Not sure how this works but just a thought.

Yep, the VAT is taken off but you need to add the extra shipping cost and it comes back to square one :)
-
OH, I didn't know Charlie will take the VAT off for USA customers. It would be easier for USA customer to buy bats if VAT is taken off. As Kaustav said, it will come ouit to be same...

Nah - on a £250 bat you pay around £42 of VAT. If, say, you got Charlie to do a deal whereby instead of your Forum discount he provided free shipping, that'd made the bat circa £210 delivered...

It was a general comment without taking the forum discount into account. What I meant was for non-UK customers the removal of the Vat kind of takes care of the extra shipping cost so the cup remains half-full/ half-empty depending on how you look at it :)

but once vat is removed, most often the packages have the estimated value of goods stated so you are hit again with customs/duty charges. basically cup remains more empty then full..

i'm pretty sure Charlie is not a VAT registered ... so no VAT discount unfortunately
-
yeah shipping to US/Canada is big factor and customs on top of that :)
In my experience the cheapest shipping to Canada is thehut at 0.99 GBP (that is not a typo) but you are gambling on the product, in my case i was lucky with 2 bats and unlucky with a bag. After that only one with cheapish shipping is prodirect at abt 17GBP (was superfast - 3 days) everyone else is 35-40 GBP range..
may i also add that only site that took VAT off was Prodirect others dont seem to so i am assuming their prices do not include vat
-
Sportsdirect needs your accountant to e-mail them a copy of a whole lot of rubbish...lol
Talent cricket, our own Asad Bhai, Paul, cricketdirect etc. all deduct VAT.
-
In order for a company to knock off VAT they have to be VAT registered and BlackCat isn't.
Secondly when VAT is knocked off the seller has to declare the actual value on the custom papers in order to get VAT back from the government and when that happens then the buyer get hit by customs and duty in the destination country (unless one gets lucky and escape).
If I'm not mistaken VAT is 20% while in Canada if bat is coming via courier then beside duty/customs there are broker fees as well. So all that comes upto (around) 22%.
So there is extra 2% which a buyer has to pay.
VAT or no VAT is samething really as eitherway the outcome is really same.
However, some retailers regardless they are VAT registered or not they declare full value on the package (even if they don't extempt VAT) because they don't want to be held responsible if anything happens to the item while in transit.
Hope it make sense

CD.. you have confused us more ;) I am just kidding. Yes whatever you are saying makes sense. So all in all, shipping is what you have to pay extra. I saw one site lately called chakkar.com (I might have spelled wrong), the concept was for people to carry your stuff for cheap rate. we may discuss this later on a separate thread I guess.
CD.. I should have bought your black cat dude:)...
