Title: How to take of a toe guard?
Post by: Cover_Drive on January 27, 2012, 02:15:22 PM
Trying to take toe guard off on Newbery bat as I want to use shoe goo instead, but the toe guard is not coming off!

I triod inserting blade from edges but that doesn't work either, any ideas and way of taking them off?

if you have a power sander then can be sanded off. takes a bit of time.
i normally peel them off or cut sections off until only a thin bit is left the blast it off on a drum sander. your probably going to wanna clean the toe up and repair any damage before gooing so your probably gonna be using the sander anyway

use a hair dryer to heat up the glue, should just peel off.

Johners I don't have power sander :( thanks though I appreciate it!

Fletcher mate, won't it "over dry" the toe region?

no problem mate.

as fletcher said try the hair drier option.( im too impatient for that) shouldnt overdry it. as i said before the toe will probably need a clean up to remove the residue or a repair so after that just give it a light coat of oil to seal it and then once dry goo it.

Hmm cheers make sense.

I added shoe goee on some of my newer bats last night but I didn't oil them before is that okay?

Sorry if I come across an idiot but when you use hairdryer do we use it on side (wind being blowed to the joint), correct?

Thanks a lot for your help mate I really appreciate it

should'nt do mate, if your worried just apply a little linseed oil after.

its prolonged heat that will ruin a bat not 5mins with a hair dryer  ;)
