Title: Slip cradle v crazy catch v something else?
Post by: jonkgray78 on February 04, 2012, 01:03:04 AM
Hi guys, long time lurker, jet lagged and wide awake, so feel like I ought to get involved!

Our club has agreed this year that we can buy some new toys, exciting times!

So I was wondering which of the catching aids you'd reccomend? The chairman is keen to get a cradle, and I have fond memories of them as a kid, but they are expensive, and will need to be stored somewhere. Is the crazy catch any good?

Also, are there any training aids that you have at your club that you reckon make a big difference? Skyer maybe?

Advice much appreciated

mate we just do it the old fashioned way with a guy tossing the ball to another guy and him smashing it as high as he can for others to catch...cheapest way to do it...

Best bet for close catching or ring fielding is the katchet, easy to use and its more versatile than people think

the krazy catch is brillaint, highly recommend it over a cradle on all fronts.

katchet boards are good too

Crazy catch is amazing! I recommend that over anything else.

The cradle is only good if you can hit it consistantly, to combat this we set the bowling machine up to fire balls into it!

We also have 2 crazy catches, I use the crazy catches for the junior as its easier for them to hit and would never use the bowling machine with cradle for them. I also have a boom bat, the cheap skyer, which does it's job well. Baseball mitts are essential for fielding drills, flex stumps are good, although fusion multistumps seem better. Also want to get a Katchet board to use with the BM

Thanks guys, really helpful stuff, just what I was looking for.

I'm off to the states next week, so will try and pick up some cheap catching mitts from walmart as I'm guessing the cricket specific ones are not that different.

Sounds like the cradle would be an extravagance we don't need, I will look into the crazy catch.  Think we have a katchet board from last year.

thanks again
