Title: Woodstock TDF XL Grade 2
Post by: wilkie113 on February 05, 2012, 06:29:05 PM
Got a call on Friday off John to say that my bat was ready if I wanted to go and collect it sometime soon. So decided to go today! Took a fair while to get there as the sat nav on my iPhone decided to play funny f*****s and send us on a tour of Shropshire! Which in the current state of the roads wasn't fun, and Dad wasn't to impressed about having to drive like a rally driver!

Got there and called John, he met us outside his little workshop. Very nice little place indeed, I went inside and he had made three of which I could pick from. Picked up the first two, and thought hmm okay there a little light. Picked up the third one, and it felt perfect. So gave it back to John he slipped a grip on her and gave it me back, and I said yes, I will take this one please! I asked if I could have the blue stickers from the curve, as they match the blue on my pads, and he was fine with that too. Great service all in all, and I'm a very happy chappy!

The weight is around 2'12, well it was 2'12 before stickers and the grip
It isn't the nicest looking piece of willow, but I didn't ask for that when I spoke to him, I just said whichever piece responds the best, and it does respond awfully well off the mallet.
Overall very pleased with the service, and very very pleased with the bat, and I would recommend anyone around the Shropshire area who can visit to do so. It's good to see where your bats come from!

I apologise for the pictures as they are from my iPhone but I have tried to take the best I can!
Comments and thoughts are always welcomed :D

Nice bat bud. What was the price on it if you don't mind me asking? Also did you get a look at the softs?

He didn't have any of his 2012 softs in stock yet, they are supposed to be arriving next week!
He let me try on the samples of the gloves he has for the shows etc, and they are lovely, they have a black index finger and the rest are white, pittard palms as well, over all a very nice glove! Tried on a pair of the lower priced ones and they are very nice as well! Didn't get to see any pads as I don't need any.

With the 20% off if you follow them on twitter, and a scuff sheet, it was around £150 mate which in my opinion is a very very good price

I think it's £180? May be wrong though. Lovely bat though, the stickers are growing on me. That wallpaper  :D

It is not shocking, top 4 Liverpool players of old :D

Very good day mate! It's nice to see where your bats been made and meet the person who made it :)

His 2012 softs aren't anywhere as good looking as the 2011. The gloves have a whole black index finger with the remainder white. There's some pics around on the web, but can't post pics I don't think.

I did put that in an above quote Tom, I think the softs look nicer with the black index finger

(No Swearing Please) sorry man, will delete that post.

I guess they look okay, less Newberyified. But did prefer last years a lot more.

The wallpaper would be improved if it was Rigobert Song, Sean Dundee, Julian Dicks and Neil Ruddock.

Haha no worries :D.

I did like the look of the all white ones on the internet, but when seeing them in person didn't think they looked as nice as the 2012 ones

What about Salif Diao, El Hadj Diouf, Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Paul Konchesky?

All players I wondered why we EVER signed!

Used this, this morning against about 45 balls against the bowling machine, she seems to go very well indeed! :D

The real test will come once I've given her a bit more knocking in and use her against real balls! But signs are good and hopefully got a bit of a stormer here :)
