Having problems getting batting pads to fit around my big chunky legs, any recommendations on pads with longer straps?
Just picked up some Charlie French PPR1's and they are amazing, but the middle strap is to short! Weep! :(

Nice one Johnny :D
Who is the cameraman by the way?
-
I also recommend the vaults mate, having big calves myself theres plenty extra strapping left
-
Camerawoman :o
It's Mrs Johnny
Looking for a 'production assistant' to help produce these video pieces soon though - would need to be North West based if anyone's interested - hoping to expand on these features beyond just reviewing S&J stock
-
Loving your video reviews Johnny! Keep them up.
-
....running out of kit to review though (hint, hint forum sponsors!:D)
-
Hmm, quite like them but not sure about the ambi design...... do you have the other Vantage pads, the black ones?
-
Sam has the Vantage stock. Think he only had left-handed in the other model. I honestly don't think you'll notice the ambi-ness of these though. Wrap around your legs really well.

Can you make them public? I can see only one with the link you have provided :(
-
Only done 2 so far - other link is under the 'other equipment' section
-
Ill send you a pair of gloves once I get them and you can do a review if you want.
P.S. sorry for derailing your topic, I know kookaburra's pads used to have very long straps but that is going back a couple of years and have not used the newer pads

2 Pairs of the blacks ones (players model) in RH..have a look in s and j section :)
-
Cool, thanks, like the look of them!
Finally, anyone know how long the straps are on Newbery pads? Quite like the Tour ones!
-
pretty standard length on my sps's and gt's!
-
I tried on some newbery tours today and they were okay, middle strap a bit small!
Best pads I've found for strap length are salix!
-
I've got 909 d3o pads which have rather long straps, that said I do have twig legs... ???
-
I am also blessed in the calf department, and have never had any probs with Kooks either
-
Just picked up some puma calibre's, 2 strap model. Straps are massive so you won't have any problems with them.
-
Rather than start a new topic could anyone offer some advice.
I like to wear my pads buckled up tight with my pads wrapping around well.
As I dont have the biggest calves I do end up with the ends sticking out and flapping about unsightly.
Is there anmy trick to get them tight but not so they look silly?
-
Yes, but it's hard to describe... Basically you strap the pads to the end, and then pinch them in the middle
-
Thx Johnny, yes tried that but am wondering if there is another cunning trick I might have missed?
-
black pads Sam? i'm after a set in black
-
with regards pads with long middle straps i can highly recommend newbery SPS pads, have no problem getting them around my big calves , with only an inch and a half velcro left showing, they are also the most comfy pads i've worn
-
My vantage pads currently and my old ayrtek pads had sufficient length of straps. My older Gray Nicholls did as well, not sure on current GN pads though.
