after playing the game for nearly 20 years I have this season decided to wear a lid in every game, started using the lid on Wednesday night and soon found sweat running down my face, so my questions are thus.
1. Is there a lid out there with padding on the forehead which holds sweat really well or is there a modification I could do to the padding to catch more sweat?
2. Apart from the new SAF gloves are is there another brand that has the towel on the upper hand thumb to aid wiping away sweat?

What helmet do you have?

Few guys at our club have used a bandana kinda thing like Sehwag with their Ayrteks. Works really well for them.

Whe you watch Sky Sports in HD, you often see the batsmen between overs chatting, and then they push the helmet hard against their head and you can see the sweat pour off!!! :(
I guess it just goes with batting in hot conditions. A slim but ultra absorbant headband could work?

Couple of guys here wear a cap backwards under the helmet..

My helmet is a cheap power play thing I bought off ebay a few years ago but have never worn it. Just had a look at the padding and while it can be taken out to wash it is not as thick as it could be. I think I will have to spend a few quid on a better lid and take it from there.

I do that and the sweat streams off my helmet, lol.

I have a Masuri and it doesn't take long for the padding to be completely sweated out. But it is a comfortable helmet, so I deal with it.
I think Albion have the thickest padding across the forehead, but I personally don't like Albion's.

I know what you mean, I batted full 20 overs in a T20, so for an hour and a half, and was soaking, I decided to wear an arm sweat band, but didnt know if it looked stupid, but now I dnt care if it does.

I wear a sweatband on my head when using a lid either when keeping or batting
