The new season is coming ahead and with my club not doing any nets for the adult members I have taken it on myself to get a few nets in with friends. But the off season has not been good to me. Does anyone have any fitness tips that would help to get into cricket fitness (not just a run, something specific).
Cheers

I need this too! Cardio fitness has gone a but down the drain after just coming back from injury! :)

Try circuit weight training and/ interval aerobics. These two help you get fit the fastest. In a nutshell these are quick series of workout/ aerobics which has intermittent high intensity followed by normal pace. I will try and dig out some information for you.

Ive been doing p90x fornthe last three weeks and i love it and i usually hate going to the gym. The workouts are great and i tailor it a little bit of the cardio and plyometrics to cricket movements

Hey Bud
Cant recommend Swimming highly enough makes you use muscles you thought you never had and increases your stamina crucial for those singles
Plus try skipping great cardio and helps keep you light on your feet helps with the footwork
As for gym work work try some weights especially squats increases overall muscle content and helps reduce body as you would burn more calories as you would be carrying more muscle
Plus core specific exercises like planks for example, you will defo notice more power and punch in your shots
Just try be active, cricket wise just get someone to hit you a few catches and get moving shadow batting things like that
Hope this helps let me know how you get on
Good luck

Loads of core work, planks mainly, interval training as everyone else has mentioned is also good for fitness especially in cricket. Also, running fully kitted up for batting or keeping between the wickets (or equivalent distance) . Hope this helps

Cheers for the tips guys, I have done a bit of running with sprints, but I have just bought a house so a bulk of my time is spent in there painting and so on. Once that is done the full fitness will start......well so will the season.
And with a swimming pool 400m from the house I think lots of swimming will be on the cards!

I started working on this yesterday, I have two purpose, one to lose weight other to get fit for season.
Yesterday I first did laps (mix run and walk) for 15 minutes then 30 minutes fat burner on ellipticals with different resistance and 5 minutes to cool myself down.
Today I did 10 minutes run/walk mix then again 30 minutes fat burner on ellipticals followed by 5 minutes to cool down then 8 minutes bicycle and then 13 minutes ellipticals again at resistance of 15.
It has been two days yet.
