Title: Damien Martyn
Post by: mickyp on March 01, 2012, 07:21:29 PM
Been doing some YouTube browsing (robelinda2 has posted loads of crackers), and stumbled across some clips of Damien Martyn. For those whose abiding memory of him is scratching around in the 2005 Ashes, check out his 133 against South Africa in 2002. Magnificent to watch, you won't see better timing than that. Such an elegant player. Even when he is mullering it (see his 96 in the T20 against SA in 06), it still just looks effortless!

Unlucky to play at a time when the Aussies had an embarrassment of riches to pick from.

The 96 in the T20 was amazing!

Loved everything about this guys technique. Similar to Mark Waugh in how he made timing a cricket ball look very easy. He got a few rubbish decisions/runouts/jaffas in '05 but thanks to Robelinda we can witness his class all over again. :D

Just watched the T20 knock again, I swear that cut shot he hits towards the end takes about 1 second to cross the rope, and its all along the ground!
