Hey Guys
Just wanted to see if anyone here plays Essex prem
I'm looking to change cricket clubs and have been offered to play in Essex, but have no idea on standard or quality of pitches so was hoping for some insight
Many thanks

Go and lookup Wanstead. County feeder, number of ex-pros, covered flat wicket. As good as any premier league.
-
I play in Essex Div 1 and only played 1 season in Essex Prem. The last 3-4 years Brentwood have been the best team by a country mile. Wansted are a decent side in the prem. Buckhurst Hill who have just been promoted are a very good outfit indeed.
Best pitch is Brentwood, it is an old county ground and Colchester who host Essex ccc festival every year play at Castle park and is always a good track.
There are alot of Essex ccc players who play the odd game for club sides and every prem side are allocated an Essex staff player.
Do you mind me asking what team's' have shown an interest in you?

I play Div 2.
Premier is very good. Lot's of County players playing for various club sides...

Hey
I've known quite a few of the Wanstead lads from when we were younger playing county and representative cricket especially the captain (Akram twins), so was inclined towards them been, just got to see if I fit in down the winter nets a bit of a shame since they are on Sunday mornings
Also a side called Hainault & Clayhall know there skipper also Z Sharif from when he was playing essex 2's but I think they have got relegated not sure though only spoke to him briefly after new years
Its a tough decision but ultimately I just want to play a good standard of cricket and fit in and get on with the lads and hopefully score a few runs
Any opinions on the two mentioned ?

I will be playing against Hainault and Clayhall this season. I have played against Zobie Sheriff many times, decent bloke, good bat and can bowl some decent leg spin.
Wansted have a great bowling attack and both Akrams score bundles every season.
it all depends what you mean by play a decent standard. Both teams will be playing decent standards with both divisions having some good decks to bat on and some bad to bat on.
The format of the cricket changes during the season in all divisions of 1st's cricket. Start of the year is 50/50 win or lose, middle of the season is called ''timed game'' and last 3rd of season is back to 50/50.
there maybe alot of travelling involved in both divisions. If you want to play prem cricket or Div 1 the standard will not change too much.

Well Wanstead wont have Merv Westfield this season that is for sure lol
I suppose all ECB Premier leagues are a great standard of cricket, I have spent last few seasons playing lower league cricket as I needed the funds with the little one on the way plus plenty of keen rich chairmen in Surrey that want there clubs promoted, but always missed the thrill and competitive edge of being up against the best going be hitting the big 30 this season so want to have one final crack at the top if you know what I mean
Like you said just need to take the travelling into account as I live in South London

They had a decent attack when Westfield was playing along with Chambers. To be fair, home games at either club wont be that bad for you to get to as the a12 is direct to both clubs, BUT, when the Olympics are on you will struggle as they both are so close to the olympic park.
So, you are 30, played some games for Essex when you were younger,,,,,,, sorry, trying to do some detective work lol.
Good luck with what ever you choose. If you are a decent player and have played pro or somewhere near to that effect, then there are alot of Essex based clubs still looking for a 'pro'

Burdy what league are you playing in this season? ;)

lol no where near a pro mate I wish ....
Didn't play Essex was at Surrey but played against quite a few of the Essex boys and played against Waltham Forest schools hence the link with the Akram twins
I think that is the main thing I need to take into consideration plus the public transport links are not too great either, will see what happens .... if not I 'll just find somewhere close to home and continue to enjoy it hopefully

To be honest, you wont go far wrong at either Wanstead or Hainault if you decide one of the two.
