Post by: awp on March 02, 2012, 11:03:58 AM
watching Aust vs Sri ODI - Watson using a Halo.......different profile or merely different stickers to promote the range?

I suspect different stickers. I have been advised that GM are bringing out an aus. only bat predominantly about edges. I will keep everyone posted.

you're right, profile looks the same.

interesting comment re the Oz only model, good marketing strategy I guess given we can land bats from the UK significantly cheaper than buying local.

I thought a little too perhaps.

I paused the coverage each time there was a good shot of the bat.  it was definitely a new bat (as in unused), though as you know, Shane's been out of action for a while.

I saw him in the Sheffield Shield match at the WACA the week prior and he wasn't using this bat.

Essentially, it looks like a Flare, maybe a marginally lower sweet spot, but Shane does go for a Flare with a lower middle for ODI's on occasion any how.

Difficult to tell but i thought I could detect marginal concaving. The edges are enormous, even for a GM+, Mark Nicolas called it a railway sleeper.......

It's also interesting that he used a black grip and there was an additional sticker at the toe (I don't know whether this is a GM sticker or a different sponsor or charity or the like)  so the cosmetics vary from the standard Halo.

I'm wondering whether this is a preview of the Australia exclusive model touted by Lazza above?

Lazza, what's your source on that by the way? Inside info?

The sticker says SRW, which are his initials - Shane Robert Watson

@awp - The GM rep was at the local shop on monday touting his goods for the 2012/13 season.

the toe sticker you mean Langer?

Thanks for that Buzz, just looking and they don't seem to be available here in the UK in that colour. Shame I much prefer them in that colour!!
