One of the greatest to have ever played the game. I remember his first test here in england, along with ganguly. I think he should have played one more home series and then retired. I believe laxman will be the next to call it a day

One of the technically excellent batsmen from India, I still remember his debut 95 in Lords when I first had access to cable television in India. He was more English in his batting style than Asian. A well mannered and mild tempered guy who did everything for the team. Our Indian pro told me that he puts loads of work in, a proof that hardwork can negate talent. Proud to be part of a generation that could watch him play.

A True Legend

He faced over 31,000 balls the most ever but I wouldn't even like to guess the amount he faced in the nets. A truly dedicated sportsman and the definition of the modern day professional. I hope he stays in the game in some capacity as his knowledge is a treasure trove waiting to be opened! Team India sign him up..!!

No doubt he was/is world class, however this does mean Jonathan Trott is now the most boring to watch, run machine in test cricket

it's been an absolute education watching Dravid bat,i would put him up there in the top 5 modern day batsmen and equal with SRT.
Masterful technicial and mentally as good as they come and bucked the trent of Indian batsmen not being able to be succesful on bouncy pitches.
He is my favourite Indian batsman and a selfless player.
Im an England supporter.

last thought: has he stepped aside so SRT can remain in the team just a bit longer?
India are re-building with Kholi,rohit and probably Pujara at number 3.
Perhaps just SRT will remain until that elusive 100 arrives...
