Title: Ayrtek or Masuri
Post by: Pitbull on March 12, 2012, 03:05:06 PM
I Know this kind of message has probably been posted on this board somewhere but i'm far too lazy to scroll through it all.

I've used a Maursi for the last 3 years but I'm considering jumping on to the Ayrtek bandwagon as I'm getting pretty bored of the Masuri.

How much would you guys recommend an Ayrtek? because its more of me wanting a new helmet than needing one.

Cheers

i use masuri but have had the pleasure of trying on a few of the ayrtek lids. i guess it depends what level you play and your budget. cant deny they are excellent in both quality and safety. safest on the market by far. top end ones cost alot but then as explained elsewhere your actually paying for what you get, when they say carbon fibre is used they dont mean a tiny amount like some other brands. If i had the cash i would definately have a Elite raw.

the premier is good value and offers great protection. Quite a few ayrtek users on here so can see a decent amount of responses. If in doubt speak to Arytek on here and he will be able to help you choose etc.

take a look at this aswell. should help you decide

As money does tend to burn a hole in my pocket (saving isn't my forte) I might be interested!

LOL, after bugging Tom for past few weeks I'm knowledgable enough to be Ayrtek's salesman itself lol

The only thing I worry about is the fit as I have an abnormally large head where on my Masuri I have to have the support strap at its biggest. But I will let you know when I want one Tom  :)

I've tried on both and found a masuri to be comfier... And cheaper. Ayrtek is the safest tho so depends how much you value your head. Not really worth buying an ayrtek if your not going to be facing quick bowling week in week out.

just like to ad that the ayrtek is much much lighter as well!

this is what did it for me i hated having extra weight on my head im heavy enough

Helmets aren't just for wearing against quick bowling as a high percentage of injuries come from top edges when sweeping from spinners etc too.

Comfort is perceptive to the wearer, the liner in our helmets is like no other helmet so takes some adapting too as it may require so moulding to your head.

Ours will never be cheaper as its a UK made product which means we pay a premium for this compared to other brands who make them in Asia at very low cost and enjoy some significant margins on their mark-ups!

South west contingent getting quite strong now, maybe a cider country based batoff could be on the cards....

I bought a masuri half way through last season and love it however i have tried several ayrteks and they arre insanely comfortable, however i wouldnt buy anything but a masuri again, seems to fit better than the ayrtek and i have had no problems so far

See how the Northern one turns out and take it from there I reckon, it looks disturbingly professional at present!

How about Warminster? they have a 2 lane dedicated indoor facility with viewing area and are cheap to hire, plus bowling machine etc.

I'm 30 miles from Yeovil. So about half an hour. I could always bring along a bowling machine with auto feeder to save in costs. As long as its all good with the club

Let's move ontot he new topic I started

Unless you are 7 foot tall the ball won't get a foot off of the floor. No matter where the ball pitches on the creased mat you can comfortably get forward and toe the ball.

As for the netting itself it is brilliant for being loose on the floor inviting our youth members to slip on and dislocate their knee (last week). The facilities are awful.

Oh dear, I think Winterbourne is pretty decent now, just a shame it's impossible to get a ball over thigh high
