Title: Cricket in Cardiff/ Close South Wales
Post by: WABH-J on March 12, 2012, 07:54:31 PM
Hello All,

Usually I play for my home club in Essex but this year I am away for mid/June and July and don't want to hit mid season in August without having picked up a bat.

As such I'd like to play for a club near where I am at University in Cardiff from Late April until Mid June.

Does anyone know of a friendly bunch where I could play some casual cricket? Obviously I've found a few teams online but thought I'd check on here if there was anyone who could help me out!

All the best,
Will

Love the way Tino is always linked with Essex Club cricket. I could swear he has signed for a club side in the midlands or up north. Dont quote me on it though.

Hi Will :)

I play for Panteg CC, based just outside Newport. We have several players based in Cardiff; one of our 1st teamers was last years Cardiff MCCE captain and we also have ex Glamorgan player David Harrison back with us this season.

Previous club players Will Bragg and John Glover are current Glamorgan professionals, and we even had a representative at the last world cup; Bermuda's Steve Outerbridge spent a summer with us a few years back.

The club has arguably the best ground in South Wales and hosts Glam 2nds / Wales Minor Counties / Wales age group games. We run 4 adult Saturday sides, 2 on a Sunday and also a midweek team.  We're a friendly club with strong traditions mixed with a lively social scene.

If that has got you interested, drop me a PM!

Im hanging up my helmet

I should mention that I was told by fellow players, in the pub and late on a Friday night so I may well have been having my leg pulled, what with being in University in Wales one gets rather out of touch with Essex!

Ice hear from various people, just think retirement until further notice is a good idea

Why would you want to give up when things were getting interesting! On a serious note, the man is used to the West Indies, one would have thought there's a fairly strong chance of him turning up in rural Essex and taking the next flight home!

I know don't worry! Apologies one forgets that the hint of sarcasm cannot be heard through the text of a computer screen!

It may be a bit far from Cardiff but we play Usk CC every year on tour, nice bunch of lads and some very good players there.

Miskin would be a good shout, played against them last year while they were on tour in Somerset, great bunch of lads and had a very good Essex lad batting for them, the Warsop gave it away...
