Hi all
Just joined up on this great cricket forum so just s little bit about my background.
I spent the best part of 10 years playing cricket for Derbyshire CCC and was lucky enough to have played with some of the great players around including the likes of Daryll Cullinan, Dean Jones, Michael Slater not to mention some of our great performing England players. When i finished playing i set up my own coaching business but started playing around with making bats. It was something i was always interested in but with some great advice and assistence from a couple of old bat makers and continued advice from the great man James Laver my bats have evolved. I have been running now for nearly 3 years making bats and have been going quite nicely locally without any advertising but am now spreading my wings. The idea of this business is to provide high quality bats and top service at affordable prices. I know what bats the professionals get and what you buy in the shops so we are trying to give you that professional touch for an affordable price. We do this by just working from a small workshop at home so no big units to pay for. We intend to stay quite a small concern but intend to become renowned for the quality of our products. Already making bats for former county collegues and top club and minor county players. Pads and gloves will be here in April starting with a small range of international standard kit at great prices, i will give you more information when it all arrives.
I realise that new products need to be trusted and a bat is truely a tool of the trade so i am offering a great offer as a new company on this forum. I am offering the my Supreme range at an incredible £165. This is selling on my website for £195. This bat is based on the old classic bats of the eighties ( Magnum, Jumbo etc) with a modern look to them. Superbly balanced big middle good sized edges, flat face gentle bow. The Supreme is made from the very best feeling clefts that i purchase. This offer will last until the end of April and to purchase at this price just email me on aldred173@btinternet.com or call me on 07891233238 and mention Custombats . This offer isnt available through my website so get in touch and dont forget to mention custombats. I enclose some pics i have just taken in the workshop of the Supreme and also a couple of my Gold Sovereign.

Welcome mate, be really good to pick your brains on all things cricket. Not sure how many ex-pros we have on here. Look forward to hearing your views and insight, and good luck with your brand... bats look very nice :)
-
Welcome aboard! As nick mentioned, will be great to have you here not just from a batmaking perspective, but also as an ex-pro (off the top of my head I can't think of any other batmakers who played professionally) - I also have a bit of a soft spot for Derbyshire as my parents came from Chesterfield
-
Great place to play Chesterfield tracks used to be some of the quickest around. Trouble was usually played against Glouc there when Courtnet Walsh was playing
-
I Know Duncan Fearnley played county cricket. Infact the Magnum that was used by my Hero Ian Botham was the best bat i ever had thats what helped me come up with a modern take on it with my Supreme range
-
if your looking for the pics guys look on pics topic as nickauger put them on for me as i couldnt do it am useless with computers
-
Just had a look at your website and like the look of your bats, the offer on there to get a lower grade bat to the same spec as your match bat in a package is a really good idea.
Sadly I only got a new bat last season and I'm not one of the guys on here who like to have loads of bats so I can't buy one at the moment. I'll be interested to see your softs when they come out though as the stickers on your bats are really good. Best of luck and I'm sure you've probably got a load of pm's already.

Hi Aldo
Did you play with Paul Newman at Derbyshire?
He used to coach and teach at my school about 20 years ago.
Top bloke Paul, he went on to play minor counties for Norfolk.
-
Judgie had finished at Derby when i started but i played club cricket with him. He was fantastic and i learnt alot from him. He started me on the road to county cricket. Not seen him for ages would love to catch up with him again for a beer or two
-
He used to bowl at us 14 year olds at the time off about 2 paces in the nets and we never saw the ball, only heard the net swish behind the stumps.
Quite rapid in his day I bet!
I too would like to track him down and have a beer

Love the look of those Supreme bats, I think you may well have a buyer here! I've actually been toying with buying one of your bats for a month or so, so this offer is making it very hard for me not to! I'm sure I will be dropping you a line in the next few days... ;)
