just like watching me against you in the nets :D
-
pfttttttttt just trying to sort off spin one out now
-
Great insight!!!
Hope he gets back in form soon as he's a class act
-
never been great against spin tho... :(
-
here we go offspin!

loving the scoop drive sweep to the offie early on
-
footwork is a sight to behold
-
To me, he looks much better playing leg spin than he does playing off spin. Any one else agree?
-
I do agree! :)
-
shows how good Shane Warne was though - Warne made him look downright stupid!
-
Warne made lots of batsmen look stupid!
-
true enough, though few as stupid as "The Shermanator"!
-
that merlin machine is a beast! lol
-
Top videos Simmy, thanks for posting those. Love watching Ian Bell bat.
-
great videos - interesting techniques and my god how good is the footwork!
-
Thought some of his sweeping looked a bit iffy tbh, especially against the off spin....
-
Why was you not sure if you would be allowed to post them and where did you get them from???
-
Is it just me appears to be batting on off stick against both off & leg spin. (trying something new? commentators suggested this for batsman against Ajmal)
-
I think he is trying to take the lbw out of the equation by batting on off stick. I think rather than being a bit iffy against off-spin there is a length where he is not sure what to do as I feel he does not read spin very well.
-
Thanks for uploading them Simmy, he's such a good player to watch. Michael Vaughan in the background by the sound of it?
-
Thanks for the video Simmy. His footwork is amazing, worth watching over and over.

Looks more of a forward press to me.

lad at school is on the EPP and i asked to see some vids of him batting and bowling so he fetched a memory stick in..
and it had these two videos on it as well because ian was there for them to pick up tips etc..
so i dont really own or have permisions for the video.
thats why they are set to link only access on you tube

Well explained ;)
-
He's a right fidget at the crease!
-
on the technique - I think he looks significantly more comfortable against the legspin personally which is unusual.
He appears to be taking guard on Middle and Off and then using a forward press movement. Personally I think this is making him look unbalanced against the offspin.
His execution of the sweep looked terrible - but then I think he was premeditating every shot to try and work the ball into the "gaps" or targets.
Having said that what a wonderful player he is to be able to premeditate like that and still look a class act

Looked to me as feet were set on middle & then a forward press as well.

yeah like buzz has said dont forget he was forcing the balls to hit the targets etc..
so not really his natrual game i was loving the switch hit

Bell looks a more natural off side player to me and prefers to open the face and play towards off. He isn't in the mould of KP who would favour leg and the ball coming into him. Sweeping too low for me, needs to go down on the ball. Footwork is very good, looking at it again he takes very small steps but lots of them.
-
Needs more work against a spinner, duck today, bowled by Serasinghe
-
Bell has all ways vastly over rated against spin. Flogging spinners around in England doesn't mean your can play spin. The ball only turns in England late day 4 and 5.
The only time he has dominated spinners on turning pitches has been in bangladesh. Hardly the most threatening spinners around.
-
Been a pretty good knock by Bell today though! :)
