Title: Butterfly stain pics?
Post by: SkipperJ on March 13, 2012, 09:08:03 PM
Does anyone on here still have a bat with a butterfly stain on it? Would you mind posting a few pictures of it?

Forum search didn't come up with much. There were some posted in a discussion on this topic back in 2008, but the pics don't work anymore.

Thanks y'all!

PS - I have seen the explanation @ JS Wright, just wanted to see some examples of an actual bat with the stain

Spot on.

I've no real opinion on them, but those who favour them tend to want the stain on the toe, or above the hitting area right?

It makes no odds where it is for performance but looks wise you often see it in the toe, back, shoulder etc.

They have no effect on performance?

I think that they actually do make the bat harder, as when I was knocking my bat in, I can feel the whole bat compressed, but not around the butterfly stain? what do you guys think about this?

What I meant was that if it is in the middle of the face it will not effect the bat. The whole cleft tends to be more resilient due to the variety of willow. The butterfly bats still get asked for and I think I've one at home, I've got a Slazenger with one and it is bleached but a good bat for the money.

Ah, i thought the area around the stain was fairly unresponsive on this one, might have been a psychological effect though.

Didn't the Classic Bat Company, used to do a model based on this type of stain, I remember one of their bats having a butterfly on the rear anyway.

They did and so did Warsop, bats came from the same workshop anyway, think you could still get a Butterfly from Warsop.

One of my old Funky bats had a big butterfly stain right on the hitting area.
Felt like there was extra rebound from that area.

Can't go wrong with an option of custom shape in Butterfly willow for £140, had a couple from them.

 Thanks for the headsup Mr.B!

Yes the Butterfly was their top of the range bat and all their top of the range gear was also called Butterfly too
