Title: Buying a Custom Bat in the South-West
Post by: Coops1 on March 13, 2012, 10:23:47 PM
Hi all,

I've decided it's finally time for me to move on from my trusty old Funky Fire after two years of constant use and am looking to buy a new bat. I've thinking of going for a custom hand made bat rather than a branded one for the first time. To this end I was wondering If any of you could suggest a good quality batmaker in the South-West (preferably Devon) who makes good quality bats at reasonable prices (I have around a £250-300 budget).

Thanks for your help,
Sam.

Well, Gary's a Devonshire batmaker.
I have a Paradox LE @ 2.9, it's nice and chunky and waking up nicely after a few hours of nets. If you don't like the labels, have it blank?

You could contact various companies in the South West, M&H, Ayrtek, Instinct, Martin Berill etc, they can all produce a custom for you. It sounds like you simply want a Redback, not giving yourself a lot of choice purely looking at Devon.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Redback mate having asked pretty much the same question myself last year. From what I have seen the quality is excellent as is Gary's service and you will probably have some change too on that budget

Okay, thanks for all your replies guys.

The only reason I wanted one from devon is that there's a limit to how far my parents will drive me to buy a bat and I really wanted to go and talk to the batmaker so I'd deffinately get a bat I like.
I'll probably go and have a look at redback & M&H (though they are a lil expensive for me).

Cheers.

Do you define 'custom' as made in front of you order simply getting a bat produced to your specs?

I'd like it to be made to my specification's (Something simular to my old bat but with a few tweeks) but not necessarily in front of me.
