Having bought a part made of Peplow I decided to make my own bat. I didn't have a profile in mind so armed with a plane and some sandpaper I started to hack away. What i've ended up with is a quite traditional shape, a high spine and thin edges weighing in at 2.11 on the dot.
With a low middle and no concaving it didn't pick-up like a feather, as you could imagine, so i've rolled elasoplast around the top of the handle to act as a counter balance, which seems to of worked quite well.
Any feedback would be appreciated:)

Looks very good, nice shape and the finishing look top drawer

A great looking bat - I'd be over the moon with something half as good!
Well done :)

The shape looks really good well done :), How does it tap up?

I haven't started knocking it in yet, it seems quite soft, though that is probably from my sanding, going down through the grades, it would of taken quite a lot of the face. Apart from that it doesn't seem too bad, it's got a lot of meat in the middle. I'll give a review once i've used it in anger.

Lovely shape and top finishing. looks like you have spent loads of time sanding it to perfection.

It's a standard round handle with 1/3 of a spiral grip underneath to thicken up the bottom hand.

great attempt. like the profile

awesome work, learning to make bats is what this forum is about, I would happily use a bat that shape, looks lovely.

I didn't know you'd put this on here yet Ali, I picked it up and had a few swings with this yesterday and I have to say I was very impressed and surprised at just how light this bat picked up, it was freakish. Does the counterbalance tape really have that much of an effect? As you were saying it was quite heavy initially.
Looks like its time for you start up your own company now then ;)
